Durham County Cat Club Show 2009

My thanks to Lorraine & Betty for their kind invitation to judge at their show. A lovely day with beautiful weather to go with it. My thanks also to my steward Wayne Vessey for handling all the exhibits and the judge so well. And for making the effort to travel so far to steward for me today – thank you Wayne.

Class 860 AC Burmese Breeder’s Female

1st Miss Herrignton’s SUGARBOWL MY DELILAH (27h) F

Lovely broad head for one so young. Medium large eyes with a pleasing expression of muddy golden yellow with an inner chartreuse rim, the upper lids were a little horizontal today and the lower lids could be a little fuller, they are set well apart in her lovely broad head. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a nice blunt muzzle with an essentially level bite she has gentle rounding and her ears are set very well for one so young, they are nicely shaped a fraction large for some but her head can take them and they do form a pleasing contour to her head. In profile she has deep skull, pleasing rounded brow, a fair break that I would see a little more definition to; lets hope she is still developing, her nose line is straight and her jaw could be a little deeper for perfection and is set back a fraction. Her body has good muscle tone and substance to it and is quite large for her age but very elegant, having a strong chest and a straight back, she has slender limbs in keeping with her body they have the correct stance; taller hind legs, and they have neat oval paws. Her tail just balanced and tapered nicely from medium thick base to a charming paint brush end. Her coat is a rather soft but lies very closely to her body and has warm milky chocolate tone being mingled well with shades of red. She was shown in excellent condition but was a little grizzly with us today and when upset tends to throw some of her lovely attributes out such as pinching her muzzle and narrowing her eyes; however when relaxed she is delightful to view.

2nd Mrs Andrew’s ISAJEN MISSMARBLES (27e) F

What an amazing little character, I could have wasted hours playing with her! Her eyes were a little watery today and the left eye particularly so and hence I felt she was not able to show us her eyes to their fullest size; they did have a wonderful slant to her upper lids though, I was very much taken with the shape of her eyes although the lower lids need to be much fuller, they are set well but her head is still rather immature and let’s hope once she reaches full maturity it will be broader as they could benefit from being further apart. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle and she has an essentially level bite she has very gentle rounding to the top of her head and her ears will be better set once her head broadens out in maturity, they appear a little too on top of her head at present though they are well shaped but a little big for her head right now; this of course upsets the balance a little to the contour of her head today. She has very good depth to her skull in profile, gently rounded brow, good definition to her nose break, a straight nose line and a jaw of good depth if set slightly back at present it still gave her chin good depth when viewed face on, however all in all a promising profile. Her medium sized body is growing well, she has a round chest and a straight lower back; her limbs are nicely proportioned, dainty and elegant having oval paws and correct stance. Her tail just balances, is a little thick and has a rounded end, the end of her tail has a slightly tensile feel to it. Her coat was quite short and had a silky feel, she has a warm brown tone which is mingled well with various shades of red. She was shown in super condition and handled very well.

Class 865 AV Novice Male or Female

1st Mrs Storey’ COUNTRYSTYLE SILVERMAXIMUS (18) M

Large well grown British Lad. Solid well rounded head, quite a short wedge, small ears, large golden eyes that might be called Hazel (inner green rims), chin or reasonable depth and balanced. A large, heavy boned and well grown boy, tail that was really very short. His coat was a trifle long and soft at present but I suspect he has not had a full moult yet. His patter was well defined, oysters to flanks and butterfly wings across shoulders well clearly defined, as well stripes down his back, along his legs and rings to his tail. Shown in excellent condition and handled very well.

2nd Mr Brash’s RIVANESS MIZ_BELLE (35) F

Sweet if shy Foreign White girl who is not long adult. A little nervous and tending not to show herself off to her best, but the longer we have her out the more she settled down. She initially tended to round her eyes but eventually they settle showing the desirable shape, a slightly light but beautiful blue in colour. Her wedge and head was rather moderate but she is still rather young and developing, her ears could do with being slightly lower which will hopefully come with time. Her body fell solid and much heavier that it looked, her coat was immaculately prepared being absolutely pristine white in colour and clung to her body like it had been glued into place – it might have be a touch longer than desirable. A gentle girl who handled very well despite her own misgivings about come out from under her blankets.

3rd Mrs Murrish’s DOUBLOON LEONORA (16) F

(Another youngster who’s very soft coat and immature face let her down in this class, but she still has plenty of time to develop. A sweet heart who handled well.)

Class 889 AC Burmese Breeder’s Male Neuter (1 entered)

1st Mrs Akehurst’s CHIARO LATTICELLO (27f) MN

A sweet lad who is rather well fed – as my granny always said to me, “it’s pleasure to see a boy who enjoys his food!” He has large and lustrous pale yellow-chartreuse eyes, his upper lids are well slanted but give a slightly hooded look but he has super fullness to his lower lids, they are set well apart. Face on he has a wide wedge which is a fraction long, it tapers to a blunt muzzle and has a level bite, he has a gently rounded top of head and his ears are set well giving a pleasing contour to his head; they are shaped well being wide in the base and having rounded tips, but could be a fraction larger for my taste. His skull has good depth in profile, a rounded brow, well defined nose break, his slightly longer nose line is straight, though his jaw requires greater depth and is set back slightly. His large body is rather over weight which leaves him a little inelegant, he has as strong chest and a straight back, neat limbs that have charming spoon shaped paws and correct stance. His tail was too short to balance but tapered nicely to a paint brush finish from a medium thick base. His short coat lies close to his body and was generally very good in texture apart from a slightly harsh texture along his tail, it was a rather intense shade of cream and there was very little powering evident today. A very sweet and gentle giant who handled very well – knowing how hard it is to loose those extra pounds of indulgence piled on during the course of many a pleasurable meal; I won’t state the obvious.

Midland Counties Cat Club Show 17-05-2009

My thanks to Jean, Brenda & their hard working team for their kind invitation to judge at one of my favourite shows! A huge "thank you" to Sheryl Edwards for guiding me through the day and remaining a steadying influence all day!

Open Classes:

Class 402a Lilac Burmese Kitten Female

1st & BoB Mrs Wilshaw’s ROSSIKHAN DADDYS GIRL (27c) F 11/01/2009

What a wonderful way to start the day; to be greeted by a sweet baby girl who had her back turned to the pen door, body covered by pristine white blankets and gazing up at us over her shoulder with the most beautiful pair of eyes; set in a delightfully pretty head – “little miss perfect!” I was not disappointed when I took her out of her pen, she has large and lustrous eyes with such an exquisite expression that looks mature beyond her tender 18 weeks of age, they have remarkable definition to the upper lids and amazing fullness to lower lids, a muddy golden yellow in colour set very well in stunning head. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle, lovely rounding between her ears which are set well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. Her profile shows very good depth to her skull, lovely rounding to her brow, a well defined nose break and a straight nose line whilst her jaw has good depth and sits correctly aligned to her nose; the tiniest quibble might be for a fraction more depth would add to her overall look. Her body is a good weight for her size; she has a straight back and lovely stance showing correctly taller hind legs. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a rounded end. She still has a kitten coat at present and the hall lighting was particularly unkind to lilacs today tending to darken it out somewhat, but it had a super fine texture and satin like feel to it. A confident baby girl who was charm personified with lots to tell us about her day so far and how much she enjoyed having her tummy tickled – which we dutifully obliged. My take home kitten of the day, but I understood I was out bid!

Class 900 Ginger, Marmalade or Ginger & White Cat M or F

I needed 3 firsts and all were worthy of MCs!

1st MC & BOB Mr & Mrs Guy’s SIMBA

Lovely big red longhaired lad, who had stunning round amber eyes which had a charming expression about them. He handled very well and was exceptionally well prepared, no mean feat with a longhaired exhibit. He purred very gently for us and accepted a big cuddle from my steward. Shown in super condition.

2nd Mrs Jones’ SANDSTORM

Unlucky to meet the winner today, a well behaved shorthaired boy with striking golden yellow eyes. His red classic tabby pattern was broken up by pristine white markings to his face, gloves and socks, Shown in excellent condition and well prepared, just a little unsure of himself but handled well.

3rd Mrs Horvath’s GINGER BIS

A charming gent of 11 years of age, He had deep ambers eyes with such a sad expression to them, another classic tabby and white short but his red was so rich. Unfortunately he was a little reluctant to show himself off to his best to day. Shown in excellent condition.

Class 901 Tortie or Tortie & White Cat Male or Female

1st MC & BoB Miss Rossi’s MC NOUCHE NOUCHE

Super tortie and white, more white than tortie. A very appealing face with super pale yellow eyes – she was very interested in her environment and very happy to come out and strut her stuff for us – what a trouper! Exceptionally well prepared, her coat was crisp and so pristine – she purred all the time for us and was show in wonderful condition.

Miscellaneous Classes:

Class 659 AC Foreign Cat (not bred by Exhibitor) Male

1st Mr & Mrs Desolla’s GRCH BRUNNBACKEN’S SAMBESI (IMP) (23) M

Very expressive pale amber eyes set well with good almond shape. Generous ears set well apart they were alert and pricked. Lovely head with a good wedge, level bite with slight dip to nose, medium chin, set straight. Lithe and muscular feel to body of correct build. Lovely elegant legs, oval paws. Short fine coat with good drag. A well developed pattern, well defined black ticking, rich deep ruddy orange background colour. M to forehead, scarab and paler chin with a single broken necklace. Handled very well and was shown in super condition.-

2nd Mrs Moreland’s GRCH LLANDAR SABU (TICA DGC) (76 30) M

A rather striking looking Bengal, with an especially attractive pattern and wonderful bright golden colours to it. Very striking large arrow heads that had super definition. A super strong head which was rather large, relatively small ears that had a really wild appearance to them and strong profile. He had an exceptionally strong and well developed body; with just a little too much to say for himself, but overall a very striking exhibit.

3rd Mrs Wagstaff’s CH SPRINGMEADOW REBELREBEL (76 20) M

Class 700 AC Foreign Kitten (not bred by Exhibitor) Female

1st Mrs Atkinson’s THICKTHORN PATIA (73b) F

She just screams Occicat when out of the pen, though didn’t look quite so good in her pen. Lovely warm chocolate pattern with excellent definition to her spots. She has a desirably long wedge than it is wide but she did tend to narrow her muzzle somewhat but overall is it very good, her pen she tend to round her eyes but out of the pen when relaxed they assumed the natural almond shape and where a medium golden yellow in colour, her large ears had tufts and were set well. Her body is developing nicely and she was show in excellent condition and handled very well.

2nd Mrs Hamilton’s MARJANWA ASHANTI GOLD (23) F

Very attractive kitten thought little unsettled today. Super rich deep coppery background with clearly defined ticking, a broken necklace, small hocks on hind legs. Just a lovely balanced head; gently rounded brow, moderate wedge, rounding to muzzle, with super eyes which were very expressive, wee dip to profile and lovely expressive ears, firm chin – not happy for me to check her bite. Her tail balanced and was free of faults. Her coat had drag top it and her body had good weight to it. She was shown in very good condition.

3rd Mrs & Miss Haycock’s AMEEKA WILDCAT SALLY (73) FN

Class 702 AV Kitten (6-9months)

1st Mr Thomas’ THOMASTAR DASH (84 31) M

I reported on this young man two weeks ago and my opinion remains unchanged – simply stunning! A very promising kitten who had such a tremendous and arresting look. Superb expression and lovely balance to his head; nicely modified wedge with good length, prominent cheekbones and rounded muzzle, moderate stop and a strong chin with a level bite. Large wide based ears, set well on a flat top of head. Large eyes of excellent shape. An elegant body which was nicely muscled feeling solid and firm, proportionate limbs with oval paws. He had a long tapering tail with the greatest amount of heavy down only on the very end of his tail other wise a five o’clock shadow covering of down all over. A charming and confident exhibit – just loved his head type!

2nd Mrs Wagstaff’s SEREGON RODRIGUEZ (76 20) M

Unlucky to meet the winner today. A very well grown and solid youngster, he has well balance head type, strength to head but wild expression is still there. Superb definition to his marbled pattern and he handled superbly. Good length to body with muscularity developing nicely. Shown in excellent condition.

3rd Mrs Hamilton’s MARJANWA ASHANTI GOLD (23) F

Class 707 AV Foreign Visitor’s Kitten

1st Mr Thomas’ THOMASTAR DASH (84 31) M

See above class 702

2nd Mrs Brynes BOUNTIFUL REDHOTLOVER (33a 18d) M

Rather wonderful little chap! What a gorgeous wee soul this young man was. Super head type, large ears which he could barely hold up, flattened top of head, generous width at the cheek bones, super shaped eyes (really big in his head and correctly shaped) super width to muzzle, chin could be a fraction deeper for perfection but that is quibbling he has a level bite, he had a good stop in profile too. Acceptable covering for his age and a nicely developing body with that super pleasant plumpness that Devons seems to specialise in! I noticed he and his brother were quite the pair of crowd pleasers playing quite extrovertly. He really was very unlucky to the winner today!

3rd Mrs Hamilton’s MARJANWA ASHANTI GOLD (23) F

Class 708 AV Foreign Radius Kitten

1st Mrs Atkinson’s THICKTHORN PATIA (73b) F

See above class 700

2nd Miss Bates CATOMINE KEYOLE KATE (77) F

Going through a rather rangy phase at present and needing to mature a bit more in her head type. She is clearly ticked a rich sepia brown over an pale ivory ground will all appropriate facial and body markings. Her head appeared to be a wee bit too long in the wedge and not as short as desired, her eyes too could do with dominating her head a little bit more. Her body was lithe and of ample weight, she had neat dainty limbs, delicate paws and her tail balanced. She was a busy wee soul today and show in very good condition.

Class 754 AC Asian Neuter

1st PC & BOB Mrs Plaw’s IGRPR RAINSGONG STEVIE GERRARD

Superb head type this exhibit has with such expressive eyes were overwhelming first impressions made by this boy. Large and lustrous eyes of pale golden yellow colour, excellent shape and setting. Face on he has a short wide wedge tapering to a blunt muzzle with a level bite, very good rounding to top of head, and ears well set across his broad head, they are of good size for his head, wide in the base and with rounded tip and small tufts. His skull in profile shows good depth, very good rounding to brow, a well define nose break and straight nose, his jaw had good depth but it could have been a fraction deeper for perfection. His body is well developed and has super weight and a firm feel to it, a strong chest and straight back. His legs are in proportion to his body being well muscled, elegant, correctly taller in the hind pair and having charming spoon shaped paws. His tail was just short to balance though of good thickness at the base, tapering to a paint brush tip. His coat felt soft and silky and lies well to his body. He has rich red ticking against a tangerine background. He has faint thumb prints to his ears, a scarab is clearly defined as is the M to his forehead, he has spectacle lines to his face and a clear necklace which was not broken, his legs are quite clear of stripes but he had a few smudges to his rear legs and reasonable well appointed hocks, a solid spine line which followed down his tail to a solid coloured tip to his tail. His paw pads were pink and his eyes defined by clear red rims. Although his neighbour had been rather noisy he remained calm on the table, was very relaxed and easy to handle.

2nd Miss Powis’ GRCH VERVAIN ELFSTONE

A well developed boy who was a pleasure to handle. Medium large eyes of good shape and setting thought I would prefer them a little larger for perfection with fuller lower lids though the slant to his upper lids were impressive. Head on he has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to a blunt muzzle, very gentle rounding to his top of head and ears set well apart, his bite however proved to be very untidy. In profile he has good depth to his skull, with gentle rounding to his brow, a definite nose break with a straight nose that falls away slightly to the nose leather, his jaw was reasonably deep but could do with greater depth for perfection and it was set slightly back. He has a well grown solid body, good strong chest and straight back, solid yet elegant limbs which were in proportion to his body, correct stance with spoon shaped paws. His tail balanced well, tapering from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. Distinct full expression chocolate shading against pristine silver which did tend to darken the chocolate, giving an even light shaded mantle descending well down his flanks, and tail. His thumb prints were more evident in his skin pigmentation than hair but his scarab and M to his forehead were distinct, as were the spectacle lines to his face and a strong necklace, he had several thin stripes to his fore and rear legs and most impressive solid hocks to his rear legs. His spine line was more diffuse down his body but clearly evident along his tail which was free from rings and ended in a solid tip. His coat texture was soft and silky and relatively short but very close lying. He had brick pink paws pads and chocolate eye rims. Super temperament and very placid personality who shows himself well. Most unlucky to meet the winner today.

Class 771 AC Adolescent Cat

1st Mrs Vicker’s SREKCIV SWEETCICELY (27) F

Rather immature, but she was only just 9 months and a little upset today. Medium sized chartreuse eyes set wide apart in her immature head that needs breadth, she did tend to round the eye not showing the desired shape. Head on she has a short but rather fine muzzle, her bite meets but the upper incisors sit slightly forward of the lower set, she had a gently rounded top of head, her ears were set as wide part as it possible on her head at present, they were an acceptable size for her head with wide bases and rounded tips, however she did not display the correct forward tilt due to her lack of good humour today. In profile her head has medium depth and really needs more for balance, a rounded brow and decent nose break with a straight nose and good depth to her jaw which sat in the correct plane. Her medium sized body had good weight and a straight back. Her elegant limbs were correctly in proportion with oval paws and correct stance. Her tail balanced and tapered well from a medium base to a paint brush tip. Her coat was acceptably short in length generally soft but had a harsh feel towards the base of her spine, it was a medium brown in tone she was shown in good condition and although upset handled well enough.

2nd Mr & Mrs Hague’s COBATEL ODYSSEUS INVELVET (27f) M

Another immature youngster at present. Eyes having a rather hooded look today, he was a little shy and I am not at all sure he opened his eyes fully for us; his upper lids have a slant to them but the lower lids need to be fuller – all in all they appeared medium-small in size; amber yellow in colour and set well apart on a head that still needs to mature. Face on he has a narrow wedge which appears long at present, his bite was acceptable but his head appears to be rather flat. In profile he has acceptable depth to his skull but greater depth would be desirable, again his brow was a tad flat, his nose break was defined but his nose line although straight was too long, his jaw was just acceptable but greater depth would be advantageous and it was set back slightly. His large body has very good weight to it, strong chest and a straight back; his limbs are proportionate with oval paws and a correct stance. His tail balanced and tapered nicely to a paint brush finish. His coat was medium length, close lying and soft & silky in texture, it is a warm cream colour with signs of powdering evident even in the poor show lighting conditions. Shown in good condition, he is just going through that rangy phase and was little shy; not quite showing himself to his best today.

Class 772 AC Junior Cat

1st Mrs Wilshaw’s CH ROSSIKHAN CENTREFOLD (27c) F

What a stunner! Large and lustrous yellow eyes with inner chartreuse rim which were well set with super shape to both lids giving a typical Burmese expression. Face one she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle and has a level bite, lovely rounding to top of head and her perfectly proportioned ears; wide in the base with rounded tips, they are set well apart on her broad head. Her profile show her ears have the desired forward tilt, excellent rounding to her brow, skull of good depth, super nose break and straight nose line, a jaw of good depth but I would like a fraction more for absolute perfection and it was set in the correct plane to the end of her nose. Her medium sized body feels firm with good muscle tone, having a straight back and strong chest. She has dainty but proportionate legs with dainty oval paws and correct stance. Her tail was just short to balance but tapered well to a paint brush finish. Her coat was short and felt soft and silky having a warm lilac tone and was very even. Although a little concerned she handled very well and was shown in excellent condition; an exhibit with presence.

2nd Mrs Gorman’s MOLYNMEUX DEMEUXRE (27c) F

A very pretty girl who was very unlucky to meet the winner today. Again large and lustrous pale yellow eyes, set well and having very good shape to both upper and lower lids; a very good Burmese expression. Face on she has a shot wide wedge which taper well to a blunt finish and has a level bite; she has gentle rounding to her top of head and her ears are set well, having good shape to them wide in the base and have rounded tips. In profile she has a skull with good depth, pleasing rounding to her brow, a defined nose break and a straight nose line, her jaw is reasonably deep but needs more depth, it does however sit in the correct plane. Her medium sized body has excellent weight and muscle, a straight back and rounded chest, she has elegant limbs that are in keeping to her body with dainty oval paws and correct stance. Her tail balances and more, it tapers from a medium base to a paint bush tip. She too had a warm lilac coat that was short and had lovely texture to it. She handled very well for us but was a little shy and shown in excellent condition.

3rd Mrs Edwards’ JACOU BLUEJEANS (27a) F

Class 773 AC Senior Cat

1st Mr & Mrs Williams’ MOYNMEUX VEUXDEUX (27) F

A very elegant and balanced young lady. Large eyes of pale chartreuse with excellent shape and set well. Head on she has a short wide wedge tapering to a blunt muzzle and a level bite, her top of head is nicely rounded and her ear are set well apart and have good shape. In profile her skull has good depth, a rounded brow and defined nose break with a straight nose, her jaw has reasonable depth but would prefer more for perfection – it is correctly aligned. Her medium body has good weight and muscle tone with a strong chest and a straight back, her limbs are elegant and correctly proportioned have dainty spoon shaped paws. Her tail balances well and tapers from a medium base to a paint brush tip. Her coat is warm brown in colour, short, soft and silky in texture. A little upset today, but handled well; she has a certain presence.

2nd Mr & Miss Shoemark & Smithson’s BOOFYKATZ BLUE BIANCA (27a) F

Lovely blue girl with nice balance. Large and lustrous muddy yellow eyes with a hint of chartreuse set well apart with super shape. Face on she has a broad head with a short wide wedge tapering to a blunt muzzle with a level bite, gentle rounding to her top of head, well set ears which have good shape. Her skull has good depth in profile, a rounded brow and good nose break which has an essentially straight nose that falls away a trifle toward the end; her jaw has reasonable depth and is set correctly. Her compact body has a lovely feel to it, weighty and solid with a strong chest and straight back. Her limbs are in keeping with her body having oval paws and correct stance. Her tail balanced and tapered well to a paint brush finish. Her mid blue coat has lovely silvering to it and was short, soft and silky lying very close to her body. Shown in good condition a little grizzly but handled satisfactorily, unlucky to meet the winner today.

3rd Mr & Mrs Boardman’s GRCH NICANORY DAISY MAY (27) F

Class 793 Red, Cream or Tortoiseshell Kitten

1st Mrs Robinson’s MOLYNMEUX GOLD DUST (27f) M

What a little cream cracker! Wonderful expression in his large and lustrous rich amber yellow eyes which have excellent shape especially in his fully rounded lower lids, they are very nicely set in his nicely broad head. Face on he sports a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle, having a level bite and good rounding to the top of his head, his ears are set well and have appropriate proportions for the shape of his head; wide in the base with rounded tips. His profile shows a skull with good depth, rounded brow, well defined nose break with a small bump midway along his nose which hopefully will straighten out, a jaw of good depth which sits in the correct plane to the end of his nose. A solid body for a youngster of 20 weeks, with a nicely rounded chest and a straight back, his legs are elegant yet sturdy and in proportion to his body having a super stance and neat oval paws; his tail balances well and tapers to a paint brush tip from a medium base. I detected hints of powdering developing in his appealing cream coat with is really rather clear except for wee smudges to his rear legs which will hopefully blend in as he matures, his coat has a kitten texture to it, but is none the less is soft and silky. A very confident young man who engaged well with us today and was shown in super condition.

Class800 AC Neuter not having won a PC

1st Miss Wrigglesworth’s SYKRIS AKHENATEN (27) MN

Although this boy is still a little immature he is very promising and has a very expensive feel! Large and lustrous golden yellow eyes with excellent shape to both lids set well apart in a head that is still developing and needs more breadth to it yet. Face on he has a short wide wedge which tapered well to a blunt finish and has a level bite, nice rounding to the top of his head and well set ears which of a good shape and size for his head but they will benefit from a greater spread to his head. In profile his skull has good depth; good rounding to his brow, a defined nose break and straight nose, his jaw has good depth and sits correctly in a straight plane to the end of his nose. His body though still growing has a good weighty feel to it, a straight back and strong chest, elegant limbs with neat oval paws and correct stance. His tail balances well, tapering to a paint brush tip from a medium base. His coat feels very expensive like the costliest silk and very short – it has a pleasing rich chestnut brown tone to it with a few ghost marks to his rear legs. Shown in excellent condition and having a lovely temperament.

2nd Mrs Ferguson’s MYTHIAN TUNUKANA (27h) FN

A pleasing girl with bags of personality to spare! Large and lustrous eyes of yellow colour, her upper lids are rather straight than slanting to the nose yet having love full lower lids, and set well in her head. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapered well to a blunt muzzle and has a level bite, she has gentle rounding to the top of her head, her ears are well placed and are good for size and shape. In profile I would like just a little more depth to her skull for perfection, gentle rounding to her brow, a pleasing nose break and straight nose line, her jaw is of reasonable depth, but needed more depth for balance; it does sit in the correct plane to her nose though. A pleasing compact feel to her body, nice and solid with a strong chest and a straight back, elegant limbs that have neat oval paws and the correct taller hind legged stance. Her tail just balances, but tapers well to a rounded end. Her coat has a lovely mix of red and warm toned chocolate; it is short, soft and silky. A real character that had me wasting lots of time playing with her in her pen – very unlucky to meet the winner today.

3rd Mrs Vickers SREKCIV MR RKNIGHTLY (27b) MN

Class 801 AC Neuter having won one or more PCs

My apologies due to an error on my behalf I inadvertently gave first on the result slips to the wrong exhibit, my apologies to all concerned for any confusion and embarrassment caused.

1st Miss S Wrigglesworth’s CH ROSSIKHAN OBSESSION (27b) FN

Super chocolate girl with a stunning coat. Large and lustrous yellow-chartreuse eyes with excellent shape and well set in her broad head. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle, having a level bite, lovely rounding to the top of her head with her well shaped and good sized ears set well apart. In profile her skull has good depth, a rounded brow, well defined nose break, straight nose line, and her jaw has good depth being set well in a straight plane to the end of her nose. Her medium sized body is well developed it feels firm and weighty; she has a straight back and a strong chest, with dainty limbs that have oval paws and correct stance. Her tail balances, and tapers well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat was short and had superb texture to it, a lovely warm chocolate with minimal contrast. Shown in excellent condition. She behaved very well for me if a little bossy – what a character.

2nd Dr Giles’ CH & PR RAWEKE MIRROR IMAGE (27) FN

A very pretty exhibit. Large and lustrous pale yellow eyes with excellent slant to upper lids and well rounded lower lids set well in her broad head. Looking at her face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to a broad blunt muzzle with a level bite, nicely rounded top of head with well shaped and sized ears which are set well apart. In profile her skull could do with a little more depth for balance, nicely rounded brow, good nose break and an essentially straight nose line apart from the end where there is a tiny bump which then appears to fall away, her jaw has reasonable depth but really needs to be deeper for perfection as it rather makes her chin look weak, other than that it is correctly aligned. Her body feels weighty and firm, it has a strong chest and a straight back, her legs are elegant and in keeping with her body they have oval paws and the correct stance. Her tail tapers well to a paint brush finish and balances to her shoulder. Her coat is of good length, will nice soft and silky feel to it and is rich brown in colour. She was shown in very good condition and handled well even though she was little fed up.

3rd Miss Shoemark & Smithson’s BOOFYKATZ BROWN RASTABAN (27) MN

Class 908 HP Self Adult or Kitten

1st Miss Overton’s MOOMIN

What a pretty face this lovely young lady has, with a super expression across her eyes. Her short white coat lies very close to her body and was well prepared being absolutely pristine white. She was relaxed out of the pen and eventually purred for us.

Class 901 Tabby or Tabby & White

1st Miss Rossi’s OZZY

A lovely tabby and white boy who was initially a little reluctant to leave his pen but settled down nicely. Shown in lovely condition and won by not hissing at the judge today!

2nd Mrs Plaw’s PEPE REINA

A very pretty boy who is used to being worshiped I would expected. If he were in the Pedigree section I would extolled his wonderful type and stunning pattern with its superb rufousing to the ground colour – alas this is the HP section where the only thing that counts is sucking up to the judge; therefore hissing at the judge is a sure fire way to loose I’m afraid! I trust his owner will teach him to suck up soon!

Manchester & District Cat Club Show 2/5/2009

My thanks to Dorothy and the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this cheerful Bank Holiday Show which is always bustling with excitement. Also my thanks to Paula Cooper my first time steward who handled her judge and his exhibits with care and kindness, I do hope she will steward for me again in the near future.

Open Classes
Class 403 RED BURMESE KITTEN
1st & BoB Miss Shackleton’s ISAJEN DI NOZZO (27d) M 5/8/2008
A confident well grown young man with a very equitable temperament. Rich amber eyes, medium large in size could be larger for perfection, the upper lid could do with more definition and the lower lid could be slightly fuller again for perfection, set well apart in a head that is still developing and which will hopefully be broader in maturity. Head on he has a short medium width wedge, his muzzle was showing a slight pinch today and his bite whilst level displayed concave incisors, he had gentle rounding to the top of his head, his ears were set well apart on his head; they were of good size, wide in the base, with rounded tips and wee tufts, but showing the desired profile tilt when relaxed. In profile his head was quite deep, with a gently rounded brow, a reasonable nose break, a straight nose that fell away to the nose leather, his jaw was of acceptable depth but I would prefer more depth for perfection and it was set back slightly. His body is developing nicely and has good weight and size for his age, having a strong chest and straight back. His legs are in proportion to his body, correctly taller hind legs with oval paws. His tail did not quite balance being a little short of the shoulder, it tapered well to a paint brush tip and was of reasonable thickness. He had a very clear coat though the hall light rather muted his colour making it more warm red than tangerine to my eye but the hall light was really rather unkind to all the colours today, his coat as medium length and had an acceptable feel to it. His condition and temperament were excellent – quite a charming young man.

Class 667 AV Foreign Kitten (10 entered)
1st Mr & Mrs Johnson’s KAHK CZAR DOMBROVSKI (16a) M
This boy just screamed Russian to me. An elegant boy who is developing nicely with an excellent frame, ears held high and wide at the base, although he tended to round his eyes occasionally when relaxed they showed the desired almond shape; the colour is still developing currently a muddy green-yellow. His whisker pads were clearly prominent and added to that distinctive expression with the angle to his head still in developing but his nose had the desired concave curve. His chin was strong and correct set. His body was long and solidly muscular yet graceful and his coat had good density to it. Shown in excellent condition he handled beautifully.

2nd Mrs Higgins and Miss Kennedy’s MESHKHENET MIYOKO (78 36) F
A really rather attractive smoke with excellent definition to her underlying spotted pattern on pristine silver. Well defined outlining to her nose, lips and eyes and correct paw and nose leather colour. Charming head type, slightly rounded wedge, large almond shaped eye which are still developing in colour; currently a muddy green-yellow in colour giving a rather worried look when view head on; her nose had the correct parallel lines and had a gentle contour in profile, she also had a super firm chin and level bite. Elegant body and limbs and moderate tail which tapered well. Her coat was close lying and short, silky and fine in texture. I felt she was very promising and very unlucky to meet the winner today.

Class 668 AV Foreign Breeders Kitten (7 entered)
Mr Thomas’ THOMASTAR SADH (84 31) M A very promising kitten who had such a tremendous and arresting look.

2nd Mrs & Miss Halligan’s MUMANDALATS KUBLAN KHAN (76 30) M
Super well grown baby boy who had a very attractive pattern and pleasing head type. He had a wild looking small head with medium ears, perhaps too much of a break rather than a gentle curve to his profile, broad wedge and level bite, pleasing eyes which were very expressive, a long body and proportionate legs, thick tail with a rounded tip that tapered nicely. His superb pattern was a joy to behold; wonderful arrowhead spots that such beautiful contrast to their colours and super clear facial markings – a gleaming coat. A gentle chap who handled very well and again unlucky to meet the winner today.

Class 700 AC BURMESE RADIOS ADULT (9 entered)
1st Dr Collin’s GRCH ARTRO BROWN ANWEN (27) F
An attractive and mature lady. She has large and lustrous pale golden yellow eyes; they are correctly set and have an excellent slant to the upper lid and very full rounding to the lower. Head on she has a short wide wedge, blunt muzzle with a level bite, a very rounded top of her head and ears that are a little small for her generous sized head, but set well, wide at the base and with rounded tips. In profile her skull has good depth, again very rounded brow, very good nose break, straight nose and jaw of good depth, set correctly in a straight plane to the end of her nose. Her body is large and appropriately weighty – she had a substantial feel I noted, a strong chest and straight back, proportionate legs with spoon shaped paws and correct stance. Her tail balanced and tapered to paintbrush tip. Her coat was a rich warm brown in colour with sprinkling of white hairs across her shoulders but her coat was quite short in length, felling soft and silky. Shown in excellent condition, a little grizzly but she handled well.

2nd Mr & Mrs Tower’s CH FERNYAULGH MISS BLUEBELL (27a) F
A very pretty exhibit. Large and lustrous eyes of pale chartreuse, set wide apart showing super expression with correct slant to nose on her upper lids and pleasing rounding to her full lower lids, they had a charming eye liner effect to rims and her mood only enhanced her expression. Ears of good proportion to head set well apart with rounded tips and wide at the base. Head has good depth to skull, gentle rounding, and a short wide wedge . Her profile showed a very good nose break, straight nose, and her jaw sits back a bit and had reasonable depth but I would prefer deeper for perfection. Her medium almost compact body is of excellent weight with a strong chest and straight back. Proportionate sized legs with good muscle tone, has oval paws and correct stance. Tail just balances, is of medium thickness and tapers to a rounded end. Her close lying coat is short, soft and silky of a mid blue colour with correct silvering. Shown in excellent condition, though in foul mood, she handled well enough for us a tad spoilt and used to getting her own I suspect – how unlike a blue to take itself so seriously?

3rd Mr & Mrs Boardman’s CH ARTRO LILAC MOONSTONE (27c) F

Class 702 AC BURMESE KITTEN (1 entered)
1st Mrs Kirkman’s RAWEKE CHOCOLATE SURPRISE (27b) MN
Well grown kitten who is going through a gangly period of development at present. This youngster had medium sized, pale golden eyes which were set well; the upper lid having a very gentle slant and the lower needing great fullness at present. Head on he had a medium length to his wedge, gentle rounding to his head, his ears were set well apart but his head is still growing and need more breadth they are wide at the base with round tips. His skull had good depth in profile, with a gently rounded brow, his break was acceptable but more definition would be desirable and he had a straight nose, his jaw had reasonable depth but was set back slightly and more depth again is required for perfection. His body was well grown for his age and had good weight; his limbs were in proportion with oval paws and showing the desired stance: taller in his hind legs. His medium thick tail balanced and tapered gently to a rounded end. His coat colour is presently a rather pale chocolate not the warm milk chocolate called for in the standard and therefore shows a strong contrast to his darker but still warm chocolate mask, it is to be hoped that the colour will even out as he matures; otherwise his coat was medium in length but soft and silky to the touch. He was shown in excellent condition and although at little unsure of himself he handled very well.

Class 703 AC BURMESE BREEDERS KITTEN (2 entered)
1st Dr Collin’s AUREUS SWEET JULIET (27) F 30/9/08
A very pretty kitten. Large and lustrous muddy golden yellow eyes, having thin inner chartreuse rim; super shape to both upper and lower lids and set well apart on her nicely developing head. Face on she has a pleasing short wide wedge, level bite and blunt muzzle, her head is nicely rounded with ears that are of good proportion, wide at the base and rounded tips, set well apart and displaying the desired forward tilt. Her skull is deep in profile and has good rounding to the brow, a good nose break and a straight nose, her jaw has good depth and set correctly in a straight plane to the end of her nose. Her medium size body is developing nicely and have a lovely feel to it with a rounded chest and straight back, her limbs are in keeping to her size with delightful spoon shaped paws and correct stance. Her tail balances, is of medium thickness and tapered well to a paint brush tip. Her warm brown coat was brindled but as she still has her kitten coat hopefully this will eventually clear out, it is short and feels very soft and silky, and lies close to her body. Show in excellent condition; all in all a delightful and sweet girl.

2nd Mr & Mrs Boardman’s AMABILE BROWN DESDEMONA (27) MN
Another very pretty kitten sadly let down by a pronounced undershot bite which was confirmed by the duty vet. Again large and lustrous golden yellow eyes, with good shape and set well apart on a broad and very round head. Face on she shows a short wide wedge with a blunt muzzle, very much kitten rounded head, and her ears are set well, being of good size, having wide bases and rounded tips and showing correct profile tilt. In profile her skull is deep, again showing a kitten rounded brow (i.e. more than would be desirable in an adult), good break, straight nose, reasonable depth to her jaw and set correctly in a straight plane to her nose. Her body is compact but solid with pleasing firmness, strong rounded chest and straight back; her limbs are in proportion with oval paws and showing a good stance. Her tail balanced and tapered to a paintbrush end but had a degree of tensile tail to the very end. She had a lovely warm chestnut brown coat; it had a super soft & silky feel to it, lying very well to her body and of good length. She was shown in excellent condition and was a little upset and I guess fed up of having her mouth checked so often.

Class 715 AC BURMESE DEBUTANTE NEUTER (3 entered)
1st Miss Garlick’s SIGIMUND ONCEINABLUE MOON (27a) MN
Fast asleep when I arrived at his pen, I took a fair amount of time to try to ensure his was fully awake and settled before assessing him. Medium large chartreuse eyes, displaying a horizontal line rather than slanting toward his nose and would prefer a fuller lower lid. Head on he has a short medium width muzzle, good level bite, gentle rounding to the top of his head and his good sized ears were set well apart on his fairly broad head, and they were wide in the base and had rounded tips. His skull was of good depth in profile, having a rounded brow, his nose break could do with more definition but his nose was straight and his jaw had good depth and was set correctly in a straight plane to his nose. His medium sized body had good weight, a strong chest and straight back, his limbs were in keeping to his body size having oval paws and he displayed the correct taller hind leg stance. His tail balanced well and tapered to a paint brush finish. His soft blue coat was his best asset beautifully silvered such a pleasing shaded of blue and had superb short coat length – frankly the best all day also having a super satin feel to it. Shown in excellent condition a little fractious but handled well enough – another blue who thinks too much of himself!

Absent Miss Negus’ SUSUANE JASPER (27c) MN 7/7/08

Class 722 AC RADIUS NEUTER (3 entered)
1st Mrs Jubb’s MAHARANI GABRIELLE (27)
FN A very pleasant exhibit; large and lustrous pale yellow eyes, set wide apart with good shape. Ears of good size, broad at the base with correct profile tilt, set wide apart on a gently rounded head which shows a very short wide wedge with a good level bite and blunt muzzle. In profile having gentle rounding to brow, good nose break, straight nose but a bump just past her nose break and chin of good depth which was set back a little. Body of medium size, very good weighty feeling, a strong broad chest and straight back. Neat legs with dainty oval paws which are in proportion to the body with taller hind legs. Tail is of good shape with plenty of length to balance, in fact having some spare, with a paint brush tip which felt slightly tensile at the tip today. Coat has a super silky feel and is pleasing rich warm brown. Shown in excellent condition; handle very well, a charming gentle girl.

2nd Mrs Hartley’s PR GATTINI DANDINI (27a) MN
A rather large lad! Large and lustrous golden chartreuse eyes a tad hooded set well with good upper and lower lids with pleasing eye liner effect. His large ears were well in proportion to his head, broad at the base, rounded tips set well apart on gently rounded top of head. Had a reasonably short wide wedge but would prefer shorter for perfection with level bite his muzzle was slightly pinched today, brow appeared slightly long in profile too, with a weakly defined nose break but having a straight nose with a slightly shallow chin, which sat in the correct straight plane to nose tip. Long body with a good weighty feel, broad chest and straight back. Large limbs but in proportion, hind legs being taller and sat on oval paws. His tail was more than long enough to balance with round tip if slightly tensile today. Short, soft and silky coat of charcoal blue with good silvering. Shown in very good condition – handled well but a little upset by his neighbour today!
