Kentish Cat Society 17-10-2009

My thanks to Helen & the committee for inviting me to judge at the club show. Well done to all those who dress up – I find it hard enough to remember my white coat! My thanks also to Viv for stewarding and handling all the exhibits and the judge so well.

Class 305 Asian Self or Tortie (inc Bombay) Kitten (3 entered, 1 absent)

1st Ms Hutchinson’s KIMANI RAST OF IRREP (72) MN, 10-3-2009 Bombay, Black Asian Self

A rather gangly youngster. He had medium-large sized eyes. They had a good slanting line to the nose in his upper lids and reasonable rounding to lower lids. His eyes were muddy amber in colour. Face on he had a short wedge which was still a little pinched. His bite was level. He had gentle rounding to the top of his head where his ears were set well apart but his head is still developing. They were wide in the base and had nicely rounded tips. His skull had reasonable depth, a gently rounded brow. He has a good nose break his nose line was straight but fell away towards the end and was slightly too long for perfection. His jaw had reasonable depth and was set back a little. His medium sized body had good muscle tone and very good weight to it. He had a strong chest and a straight back. His limbs were in proportion, they were taller in the hind legs and had spoon shaped paws. His tail balanced to the shoulder. It tapered well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. His coat was well coloured to the roots, although he did have several stray white hairs across the back of his neck. His coat was typical of the breed – a real patent leather look to it and very short and had a silky texture. He was very easy to handle and has a very sweet temperament – he purred away the whole time we were with him.

2nd Mr & Mrs Alger-Street’s TYPHA HUNTERSMOON (72) M, 19-05-2009 Bombay, Black Asian Self

A sweet baby boy. He had medium-large sized eyes. They had a good slanting line to the upper lids but his lower lids need to be fuller yet. His eyes were muddy amber in colour. Face on he had a short but medium width wedge. His bite was level. He had gentle rounding to the top of his head where his ears were set well apart. They were wide in the base and had nicely rounded tips. They were too large to balance to his head presently. His skull had reasonable depth, a gently rounded brow and a very good nose break, his nose was straight and quite short. His jaw had reasonable depth and was set back a little. His medium sized body had very good muscle tone and excellent weight to it. His chest is still developing and he has a straight back. His limbs were in proportion, nicely muscled, they were taller in the hind legs and had spoon shaped paws. His tail was short to balance. It tapered well to a rounded end. He coat was generally well coloured to the roots and had some sheen to it. Presently it is rather long, open and kitten-like really which will hopefully rectify itself as he grows. He is a very sweet little chap who hopefully will develop nicely.

Class 362 Brown Burmese Kitten (1 entered)

1st & BoB Miss Ransom’s CARNUS FIRSTKISS 27, F, 15-02-2009

A kitten of very good overall type. She has large and lustrous eyes which have excellent definition to the upper lids and super fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are pale yellow in colour with inner chartreuse rims in this show hall. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has lovely rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. She has a very typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows quite good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a very well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection her chin could be a tad fuller consequently. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her body has good weight for her size, which is on the dainty side for her age and is nicely balanced. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were dainty and elegant. She has pretty spoon shaped paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat has a super fine texture and satin like feel to it. It is warm lighter brown at present but will no doubt develop with age. She was shown in excellent condition. She was a little bit moody but handled well enough and I found her look very appealing.

Class 369 AOC Tortoiseshell Burmese Kitten (2 entered)

1st & BoB Ms Hutchinson’s BLOOMERS BLING OF IRREP 27h, F, 21-4-2009

Slightly unbalanced at present but with signs of promise. She has medium large eyes which have a rather gentle slant to the upper lids and good fullness to lower lids, they are set very well. They are pale yellow in colour in this show hall. Face on she her wedge was looking a tad pinched. She has a level bite. She has gentle rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. Her profile shows reasonably good depth to her skull. She has gentle rounding to her brow. She has a well defined nose break and a straight nose line which is a fraction long at present. Her lower jaw has reasonable depth but I would like a more for perfection and hence her chin could be a tad fuller. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her body has good weight for her medium size and is nicely balanced. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were dainty and elegant. She has neat oval paws. Her tail more than balances and tapers very well to a rounded end from a medium base. Her coat is short and is still kitten soft at present. It is a lighter shade of chocolate with various shades of red, some of which were rather pale. She was shown is excellent condition. She was very sweet girl and handled beautifully.

Miscellaneous Classes:

Class 703 AV Foreign Breeder’s Adult Female

1st Mr & Mrs Alger-Street’s TYPHA OLOROSO (72b) F, 10-08-2007 Chocolate Asian Self

A dainty little poppet. She had reasonably large eyes. They had reasonable shape; a gentle slant to the nose in her upper and fully rounded lower lids. They were set well apart in a head that is still developing and needs more width as yet. They were rich coppery amber in colour with a few flecks. Face on she had a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle. She had a level bite although her upper incisors where set slightly back of the lower set they did meet. She had a very gently rounded head, verging on being a trifle flat and ears that are set reasonably well apart but would benefit from being further apart. Her ears had wide bases, had rounded tips and were a good sized for balance. They had reasonable profile tilt. In profile her skull had good depth. She had a very gently rounded brow. Her nose break was defined, her nose line was interrupted by a small bump. She had good depth to her lower jaw which correctly aligned with the end of her nose and gave her chin good depth. Her body was quite small and it felt a little less weighty than I would like but it had good muscle tone. She had a strong chest and a straight back. Her limbs were elegant and in keeping with her body. She had correctly taller hind legs. She had neat oval paws. Her tail balanced well to the shoulder. It tapered from a medium thick base to a rounded end. Her coat was marginally long but sound to the roots which is most impressive in a chocolate self! She could have stood a little more show preparation as her coat improved visibly just from steward’s careful hand grooming. She was an absolutely delightful character, full of the joys, very friendly and loving. I suspect she may well have not long finished nursery duties so was happy to make allowances for her stature today.

2nd Mrs Cragg’s WAKANDA GOODIE BLUESHOOZ (74a) F

A very pleasing Blue Tonkinese who straddles the line between Burmese and Oriental type exactly! Super head with a pleasing profile, suitably set eyes and ears which were large but in keeping with her head. Svelte yet weight body with a delightfully soft coat with a satin like texture which felt as though it had been glued into place – hair by hair. Tail just balanced and has elegant limbs. Prepared beautifully and shown in excellent health – a charmer to meet today.

His skull has reasonable depth, a rounded brow, his nose break has good definition and he has a straight nose line. His large body has good weight and muscle tone, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance. He has pleasing spoon shaped paws. His tail balances and tapers well to a rounded end. His coat is reasonably short and has good texture, it is a warm chocolate with some shading down his back and some brindling across his shoulders. They are chartreuse in colour Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has good rounding to her brow. She has an acceptable nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has reasonable depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection her chin could be a tad fuller. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her compact body has good weight for her size, she looks dainty. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were dainty and slender. She has neat oval paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat was short and satin like feel to it. It is a deep brown mingled with various shades of red. She was shown in excellent condition. Class 767 AV Burmese Limit Adult (2 entered)

1st Mrs Bones’ SYKRIS TODIEFOR 27b, F, 03-07-2008

A beautiful young girl – rather gorgeous. She has large and lustrous eyes which have gentle definition to the upper lids and super fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are golden yellow in colour. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has correct rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; being wide in the base and having rounded tips and balancing her head nicely. She has a very typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows quite good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a very well defined nose break and an essentially straight nose line with a small bump in the middle, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection which would give her chin a tad fuller appearance but that is a very minor quibble. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her body has good weight for her size. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were dainty and elegant in keep with her body. She has neat oval paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat is short and satin like feel to it, fitting her like the proverbial glove. It is warm honey toned chocolate in colour with minimal contracted to her extremities. She was shown in excellent condition. She was a very sweet girl and pleasure to handle today.

2nd Mrs Hoal’s YORCAT FINN 27a, M, 14-12-01

This chap looks very youthful for his almost 8 years of age – I could have taken him for a much younger cat. He has reasonably large eyes, his upper lids have acceptable slants to the nose and pleasing rounding to lower lids, they are set well apart and are pale chartreuse in colour with a mascara effect to the rims. He has a short but medium width wedge and has a level bite. Gentle rounding between ears that are a good size, balanced and are set as well apart as they can on this narrow head. His skull has reasonable depth, a rounded brow, a good nose break and he has a straight nose line which is a too long for perfection. His lower jaw had acceptable depth and was correctly set in an aligning vertical plane to the end of his nose, chin needs to be much fuller for perfection. His medium sized body needs more weight, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance. He has oval paws. His tail balances and tapers well to a paint rounded end. His coat is short and has good texture, it is a mid toned blue with very nice silvering in parts. He handled well for us.

Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat is short and has a satin like feel to it. It is mid lilac tone with some pink casting, the yellow hall lighting was doing no favours to lilacs today. She was shown in excellent condition. She was a little shy but handled very well – such an attractive exhibit!

2nd Mrs Jeffery’s CH ISSAMEE KATSPELL SUPNOVA 27d M 25-08-2008

A super lad! He has large and lustrous eyes, his upper lids have reasonable slants to the nose I would like more definition still and good rounding to lower lids, they are set well apart and they are amber in colour. Occasionally he hooded over his upper lids which tends to spoil their expression a little. He has a short wide wedge, it tapers well to a broad blunt muzzle and has a level bite. Gentle rounding between ears that are a good size, balanced very well and are set well apart. He has a pleasing contour to his upper face. His skull has reasonable depth, a rounded brow, his nose break is good and he has a straight nose line. His lower jaw had reasonable depth which was set back marginally, his chin could be a fraction fuller for perfection. His large body has good weight and excellent muscle tone, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance – they are very solid and masculine. He has oval paws. His tail is just short to balance and tapers well to a paint brush end. His coat is reasonably short and has good texture, it is a pleasing tangerine red with a few smudges to his rear legs. A lovely chap who handled very well!

A kitten of very good overall type. She has medium-large eyes which have gentle lines to her upper lids and good rounding to lower lids and are set well. They are muddy golden yellow in colour. Face on she has a short wedge which is slightly pinched at present but tapers to a fairly blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has gentle rounding between her ears which are set very wide apart; they are fractionally small for my taste yet wide in the base and having rounded tips. In profile she shows reasonable depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a good nose break and a straight nose line which falls away to the nose leather a little, whilst her lower jaw has reasonable depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection her chin could be fuller also. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her medium sized body has good weight – she is growing well. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were dainty and elegant. She has neat oval paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a rounded end from a medium base. Her coat has a fine texture. It is warm light honey toned chocolate with a warm milk chocolate mask. She was shown in excellent condition. She was a little shy but handled very well.

2nd Mrs Ferguson’s DULCAMARA MYTHIAN THEO 27b M 18-4-2009

What a happy chap! I think he must be going through a growth spurt at present as he was rather unbalanced in that growing kitten kind of way. He has medium sized eyes, his upper lids have very gentle slants to the nose and good rounding to lower lids, they are set as far apart as they can be at present and are muddy golden in colour. He has a short medium width wedge which is a little pinched today, he has a level bite. Gentle rounding between ears that are large in size at present and are set as far apart as they can on his slightly narrow head. His skull has reasonable depth, a rounded brow, his nose break was lacking definition today and he has a straight nose line which fell away marginally toward the nose leather. His lower jaw had acceptable depth and was set back, his chin was lacking due to this. His body has good weight and muscle tone, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance. He has neat oval paws. His tail balances and tapers well to a rounded end. His coat is reasonably short and lies close to the body, it is a warm honey toned chocolate with quite dark contrast to his face and extremities. Shown in excellent condition and having a super happy disposition he was pleasure to handle.

A rather immovable object : he just lay there making heavy work for my steward! He has large and lustrous eyes, his upper lids have good slants and good rounding to lower lids, they are set well apart and pale chartreuse in colour. They really did have a super expression! He has a short wide wedge, it tapers quite well to a blunt muzzle and has a level bite. He has especially good width at the cheeks. Gentle rounding between ears that are a good size, balanced and are set well. He has a very pleasing contour to his upper face. His skull has reasonable depth, a rounded brow, his nose break has very good definition and he has a straight nose line with minor falling away to the nose leather at the very end. His lower jaw had reasonable depth and was set back slightly, his chin could be a fraction fuller for perfection. His large body has good weight and muscle tone, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance. He has spoon shaped paws. His tail balances and tapers well to a paint brush tip. His coat is short and has good texture, it is a deep rich brown with a sprinkling of white hairs that do not detract in my opinion. He seems to have a zen-like presence and was very peaceful.

2nd Mrs Power’s UK IGRPR MAINMAN BURMASTAR FN 19-5-2001

A very relaxed lady. She has reasonably large and lustrous eyes which have good definition to the upper lids and fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are pale golden yellow in colour with an inner chartreuse rim. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a reasonably blunt muzzle which I would prefer to be a little broader for perfection. She has a level bite. She has gentle rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. Her profile shows good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth and was set back slightly, I would like a little more depth for perfection; her chin could be a tad fuller consequently. Her large body has good weight for her size. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs they are elegant. She has neat oval paws. Her tail is too short to balance and tapers very well to a rounded end. Her coat is short and has a satin like texture. It is rich warm brown in colour. She was shown in excellent condition. She was extremely relaxed and handled beautifully!

A very attractive exhibit. She has large and lustrous eyes which have excellent definition to the upper lids and good fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are pale yellow-chartreuse in colour. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a good blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has lovely rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. Good width at the cheeks. She has a very typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows quite good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection her chin could be a tad fuller consequently. It is correctly aligned to the end of her nose in a straight vertical plane. Her body has good weight for her medium size – real solid muscle tone, a very pleasing feeling to her. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were slender and elegant. She has pretty spoon shaped paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat is short and has a lovely satin texture. It is warm golden chocolate on the body with a milk chocolate contrast to her mask and is well mingled with various shades of red. She was shown in excellent condition. She was a little feisty but so gorgeously naughty!

2nd Miss Norris’ VIELBRE MINETTE MIGNONNE 27b FN 12-6-2002

This exhibit had a very appealing head. She has large and lustrous eyes which have super definition to the upper lids and good fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are chartreuse in colour. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a lovely blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has lovely rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. She has a typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows quite good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection and it was set back a fraction; her chin could be a tad fuller for preference. Her large body has perhaps too much weight. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were elegant. She has spoon shaped paws. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat is a trifle long but has a satin like texture. It is very warm and even chocolate in colour. She was shown in excellent condition but could loose a little weight – couldn’t we all? She handled beautifully and was very sweet!

An exhibit whose mood only enhances her expression. She has large and lustrous eyes which have rather horizontal definition to the upper lids and very good fullness to lower lids and are set very well. They are pale chartreuse in colour. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a nice blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has lovely rounding between her ears which are set very well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. She has a very typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows reasonably good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a very well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for perfection it was set back very marginally but her chin somehow still had presence. Her large body has good weight and muscle tone. She has a straight back and a strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs which were elegant. She has pretty spoon shaped paws. Her tail is just short to balances but it tapers very well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. Her coat is short and has a satin like feel. It is an intense rich cream with powdering evident on her head and back. She was shown in excellent condition, a trifle heavy maybe. She was a little bit moody and a tad naughty with my steward.

2nd Mrs Simpson’s PR PAPAGENA XANDER 27b MN 9-9-2007

Very unlucky to meet the winner a boy with a super head. He has large and lustrous eyes, his upper lids have very good slants and good rounding to lower lids, unfortunately he tends to round them in anger, they are set well apart and are medium golden yellow in colour. They really did have a super expression when relaxed. He has a short wide wedge, it tapers quite well to a good blunt muzzle and has a level bite. Good rounding between ears that are a good size, balanced and are set well apart. He has a pleasing contour to his upper face. His skull has good depth, a rounded brow, his nose break has good definition and he has a straight nose line. His lower jaw had good depth and was correctly set in an aligning vertical plane to the end of his nose, his chin had good presence. His large body has good weight and muscle tone, he has a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in proportion and have good stance. He has spoon shaped paws. His tail only just balances and tapers well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. His coat is reasonably short and has good texture, it is a warm honey toned chocolate with minimal milk chocolate contrast to his extremities. Shown in good condition shame he was little grumpy today!
