Lakeland & District Cat Show 20-06-2009

My thanks to Edward & Mike for inviting me to judge at their show. My thanks also to David French for stewarding and handling all the exhibits with good humour. I am sorry to those exhibitors who originally entered under Mr Gow I do hope I did not disappoint too much.

Miscellaneous Classes:

CLASS 627a AC BREEDER’S ADULT

1st Mrs Brynes’s GRCH BOUNTIFUL O’SUGAR (33a 36) F

A rather typie and extremely impressive Rex coat on this black smoke Devon. Lovely head, nice flat top between her large ears, a very good nose break, her chin was a little weak but sits in a level vertical plane to the end of her nose, she has a level bite, her nose is marginally long, she has good width at the cheeks and her wedge tapers to a good blunt finish. She has super expressive eyes having a really wicked look to them. Her body has grown well and her tail is wonderfully whippy. She has an amazing black smoke coat and has such wonderful waves and a perfect even covering all over. She handled very well and was charm personified!

2nd Mrs Jeffer’s GRCH MAIPENRAI TAO LUCY (34) F

Mature lady which most impressive head type! Another lovely example of her breed and unlucky to meet the winner today. A very expressive set of chartreuse eyes set in a delightful broad head, super heart shape outline was very obvious, large ears set well apart, and nice profile with gentle curve and profile break, her chin was a little weak but she had delightful gently curving muzzle. Well grown body, very muscular and graceful, elegant limbs and tail that balance nicely. Nice shade of blue and shown in excellent condition.

Extra 2nd Mr & Mrs Misskelly’s GLENDAVAN SPELLBOUND (23) F

A stunning young lady who was very unlucky to meet the preceding cats. Judged recently at Merseyside and very little has changed since. A lovely moderate head, nice profile break, stunning amber eyes of lovely shape and wonderful wide bases to her large pricked ears! She had super ticking and very rich ground colour which was most attractive, her coat had the require drag to it, she has grown very well and is feeling solid for her size, her tail balanced well and she a very elegant and dainty look to her which was most appealing – she handled wonderfully too! I still think she has lots of promise – a very confident girl and adorable girl with whom one could waste the hours.

3rd Ms Murphy’s KALTES RHAPSODY INBLUIE (33a 16) F (Cutesy!)

4th Mr & Mrs Philips’ MELKETER MERRY MONARCH (16a) M

CLASS 627b BREEDER’S ADULT

1st Mrs Holt & Mr Higgins’ NEMORZ ALLTHATHEAVENALLOWS (72 45a) F 27/5/2007 Simply stunning expression and very chatty today. Large and lustrous golden yellow eyes set well apart with absolutely typical shape, her blue rims providing clear definition to them. Face-on she has a short wide wedge tapering to a blunt muzzle, with a level bite. Gentle rounding between ears, which are a good size for balance [though some might find them large] and are wide at the base with rounded tips. In profile she has good depth to her skull, a gently rounded brow, a very good nose break, straight nose, jaw of good depth but I would prefer more for perfection, it does showing the desired vertical alignment to the end of her nose. Her body has very pleasing weight for her nicely developed sized body, strong chest and straight back. Her dainty elegant legs are in proportion in size to her body, she had charming spoon shaped paws and a good stance; exhibiting taller hind legs. Acceptable thickness to tail which balances and tapers to a rounded end. Her ticked coat was very smooth and lay well to her body, having a rich mushroom background set against pewter blue bands of ticking. Ears have faint thumb prints, her scarab has merged with a rather heavy blue cap, she has a clear M to her forehead and spectacle lines to her face, a broken necklace, a solid spin line descending down her tail to a solid tip, displaying fine stripes to her inner fore legs, with smudges to her rear legs and solid hocks. Shown in excellent condition and a really chatty character today!

2nd Mrs Ward HUGGIBEAR AUTUMN PROMISE (68 45) F 19-09-2008

Gorgeous expression. She had large and lustrous pale yellow eyes with an inner chartreuse rim developing, she had more horizontal lines to her upper lids than slanted and a full rounded lower lids, they are set well apart. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to a blunt muzzle, a level bite, gentle rounding between her wide set ears, which are well balanced her head, they were wide at the base and with rounded tips. Her skull has good depth in profile, a well rounded brow, good nose break, a straight nose that ends in the correct vertical pane to her jaw which had reasonable depth but could be deeper for perfection. Her medium body is growing nicely, having a rounded chest and straight back, her limbs are dainty with neat oval paws. Her tail balances, it tapers well to rounded end. Her coat has a lovely fine satin like texture, a pleasing carriage, her ticking is clearly evident, black base colour against a golden bronze ground which has fair degree of grey roots. She had prominent thumb prints, a scarab, an M to her forehead, spectacle lines, a single unbroken necklace, stripes to her legs, her spine line descends down her tail to a solid tip on her tail.

For me a promising kitten with elegant Asian body type and fine semi-longhair coat – shown in excellent condition and with a delightful temperament.

3rd Mr & Mrs Knight’s MAUOLOGY SERENITY (78 30s) F 08-04-2008 (Rather nice!)

CLASS 633 AC JUNIOR ADULT

1st Mr & Mrs Misskelly’s GLENDAVAN SPELLBOUND (23) F 03-10-2007 (see above)

2nd Mr & Mrs Knight’s MAUOLOGY SERENITY (78 30s) F 08-04-2008 (Rather nice!)

A very pleasing Mau, with a typical worried expression, fine head features with excellent parallel lines along nose and gentle muzzle. Gooseberry eyes set well and of good shape. Beautiful markings to her face and very defined dark black spots to body contrasting well against her pristine silver ground. She had a well grown body which was weighty yet elegant and her tail balanced. Very neat limbs and shown in excellent condition – handled very well indeed.

3rd Messers Robertson & Richardson’s CH ESANES ETOURDISSANT (76a 30) M 22-04-2008 (Impressive and very relaxed!)

CLASS AC MAIDEN KITTEN

1st Mrs Brynes’ BOUNTIFUL REDHOTLOVER (33a 18d) M

What super wee baby boy but already developing rather crude language – hope he’s not being spoilt! Super head type, huge ears, flat top of head, super expressive eyes of rich amber (if looks could kill!), wide at the cheeks, good stop, deep level chin and level bite. Super kitten fat little body, neat limbs and tail to balance. Unfortunately his coat has dropped for the summer but I’m not going to penalise a super typed baby for that I’m hopefully it will return! Shown in excellent condition, I think this one is going to be a huge character too!

2nd Mr & Mrs MAOLOGY JASPER (78 30s) M

Lovely looking Mau kitten, super expression in eye, their colour is still developing but inner green rim is evident, parallel lines along nose are evident, muzzle a little broad possibly teething? Lovely charcoal pattern consisting numerous small spot, clear and defined from a distance, pristine silver ground. His body is growing very nicely for his age and his tail balances. Elegant legs and strong weighty and muscular feel to him, shown in excellent condition.

3rd Messers Robertson & Richardson’s ESANES ENFANT SAUVAGE (76 30) F(Very attractive baby girl! She handled well)

4th Mrs Buck’s MAGICAL SOUPDRAGON (33a 27tsx) M

CLASS 646 AC BREEDER’S NEUTER

1st Mrs Kemp’s GRPR NATZKATZ IRISH CREAM (72 43nsq) MN

This boy just goes from strength to strength, he has gained a lot of substance since I last saw him and benefits from it hugely. Super expression to his large and lustrous pale golden eyes, set well apart and have super shape, well defined slanting line to upper lids and fully rounded lower lids. Ears of good size and shape for balance, wide at the base with round tips having tiny tufts, are set well apart his broad head. His head has a short but very wide wedge which is most pleasing, it tapers well to a blunt muzzle and has a level bite. His profile shows a skull of very good depth, rounded brown, good nose break, straight nose, jaw of good depth finishing in the correct vertical plane to the end of his nose. Medium body feels weighty and has very good muscle tone giving a strong & masculine appearance to it, with a strong chest and straight back. His limbs are in keeping with his body with oval paws and correctly taller hind legs – looking very elegant. His tail balances and tapers well to a paint brush tip from a medium base. His warm lilac base caramel clearly show hints of metallic tone around the back of his head and around his paws it contrasts well with his silver background. He is lightly shaded and his mantle descends well down his body, he has faint thumb prints to his ears, an M to his forehead, a scarab, spectacle lines and broken necklace a good spine line which carries along his tail to a solid tip. His coat is very clear, his legs appeared free from smudges and stripes though he does have solid hocks to his hind legs. His coat was very soft and silky in texture lying close to his body. Shown in excellent condition and handled well – he responds well to flattery and a cuddle. Shame he decided to hide under his pristine new white vet bedding.

2nd Mr & Mrs Penny’s GRPR HOADHILL FUNTIME FRANKIE (76 30) MN 05-11-2006

Not such a happy chappie as normal today. My opinion has not changed of him since last time: Medium sized head compared to his body but what excellent head type, medium wedge, high check bones, concave curve between bridge and nose leather, large broad nose, very full muzzle, strong chin, thick muscular neck. Medium ears, short and wide, light furnishings. Round eyes slanting to ear base, green in colour. Long substantial body robust and large showing good depth to flank. Strong legs and large rounded paws. Thick medium tail. Short coat. Excellent pattern with superb rufus genes giving a strong and vibrant orange ground. Very pleasing exhibit – striking pattern and charming temperament.

3rd Mrs Coulter’s PR JACOU MARBELLA (76 20) FN 11-09-2007 (Very attractive!)

4th Miss Daly’s JUNGLEJINKS PHEONIXROSE (76b 30) FN 11-09-2007

CLASS 659 AC DEBUNTANTE ADULT

1st Miss P A Herrington’s SUGARBOWL MY DELILAH (27h) F 25-08-2007

A very pretty young lady! A very pleasing expression to her large and lustrous eyes of golden yellow, the upper lids were a little horizontal today and the lower lids were nicely rounded, they are set well apart in her lovely broad head. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a nice blunt muzzle with an essentially level bite, she has gentle rounding to her top of head and her ears are set very well, they are nicely shaped and balance her head well; they do form a pleasing contour to her head. In profile she has deep skull, nicely rounded brow, a fair break that I would like a little more definition to, her nose line is straight and her jaw could be a little deeper for perfection and appear to align in the correct vertical plane to the end of he nose. Her body has good muscle tone and substance to it, is very elegant, having a strong chest and a straight back, she has slender limbs in keeping with her body they have the correct stance; taller hind legs, and they have neat oval paws. Her tail balanced and tapered nicely from medium thick base to a charming paint brush end. Her fairly short coat is a rather soft but lies very closely to her body and has warm milky chocolate tone being mingled well with shades of red. She was shown in excellent condition but was a little grizzly with us today.

CLASS 663 AC JUNIOR ADULT

1st Mrs & Miss Matthews’ CH KATCHYN BLUE HAZE, 27g F, 23-06-2007

A very appealing young lady. Large and lustrous pale golden eyes set wide apart and having very good shape to both lids especially her very full lower lids. Good sized ears for head, wide in the base and with rounded tips, set well across a gently rounded top. Head on she has a good short wide wedge, which tapers to a blunt finish and has a messy but level bite. Her profile shows a head of good depth, rounded brow, very good nose break, straight nose but a somewhat shallow jaw but set in the correct vertical plane to the end of her nose. Medium body of good weight and excellent muscle tone, straight back and rounded chest. Medium sized legs in keeping with her body with oval paws and taller hind legs. Tail balances, tapering to paint brush end but was slightly tensile at the end with a slightly blunt finish to final vertebrae. Her coat was short, soft and silky; a soft blue tone with shades of cream mingled in well. A very sweet girl who has a most positive nature; trilling along all the time she was handled and shown in very lovely condition.

2nd Miss Jones SIGISMUND NITENURSE (27) F 05-06-2008

A very pretty young lady. Reasonably large and lustrous yellow eyes set well apart with good shape to both lids but the upper lid was more horizontal than slanting to her nose. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to a blunt muzzle, level bite, her ears were set well apart across her nice rounded top of head. Her ears were in keeping with her head, wide at the base and with rounded tips and show correct profile tilt. In profile her skull had good depth, nicely rounded brow, good nose break, straight nose and jaw of reasonable depth which could be deeper for perfection, set in the correct vertical plane to the end of her nose. I could do with more width to her head but she is still young and developing. Her body is growing nicely and felt weighty, she had a rounded chest and straight back, her limbs were elegant and in proportion to her body with neat oval paws and correct stance. Her tail balanced and tapered well to paint bush finish. Her coat was reasonably short and had a lovely satin texture; it was a fairly even warm brown with hints of chestnut tones. A positive girl shown in excellent condition.

3rd Mrs Ferguson’s TEAROHA AUGUSTUS BROWN (27) M 21-07-2008

CLASS 668 AC BREEDERS KITTEN (1 entered, 1 absent)

Absent Miss Jones GIGISMUND MAMMA MIA (27) F 02-02-2009

CLASS 683 AC SENIOR NEUTER

1st Mr & Mrs Gilbert’s IGRPR MARSHMIST ELEANOR (27h) FN 20-09-2001

A really rather lovely exhibit. Large and lustrous pale chartreuse eyes set well apart and have the desire slant to her upper lids and full rounded lower lids – when she can be bothered! Face on she has a lovely Burmese look; short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt finish at the muzzle, she has a level bite, gentle rounding between her ears which were set well apart and their outline continue her contour well; her ears balance her head nicely being wide in the base and having rounded tips. Her skull has good depth in profile, a nicely rounded brow, a good nose break, straight nose line, a jaw of good depth that lies in the correct vertical plane to the end of her nose. Her body is a good size, nicely muscled with as strong chest and straight back, her limbs are in keeping and very elegant, having oval paws and correctly taller hind legs. Her tail balances, tapers well from a medium base to a paint brush tip. Her coat was soft and silky, a very warm chocolate and well mingled with shades of red and an acceptable length. She was shown in excellent condition and was just a lovely exhibit.

2nd Mr & Mrs Potter’s GRPR CHEVINE COSMOS (27c) MN 08-10-2005

A very easy going relaxed large boy. Large and lustrous eyes of pale chartreuse tend to round his upper lids and fully rounded lower lids, set well apart. He has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle, a level bite and good rounding to his top of head and well set ears, which are in proportion to his head having wide bases and rounded tips. In profile his skull has good depth, nicely rounded brow but I felt his nose break need stronger definition, he had bump along his nose and a reasonably deep jaw which aligns correctly in a vertical plane with the end of his nose. His large body was in great condition with excellent muscle tone, a strong chest and straight back, his long legs were in keeping with his body, taller hind leg and elegant oval paws. His tail tapers well from a rather thick base and balanced to his shoulder. His coat was a little long but felt soft and silky, it was a rather patchy lilac with pink casting - perhaps he’s been sunbathing? Shown in excellent condition and a really gentle giant.

CLASS 684 AC VETERAN NEUTER

1st Mr & Mrs Gilbert’s IGRPR MARSHMIST ELEANOR (27h) FN 20-09-2001 (see above)

CLASS 784 AC BURMESE WITH ONE OR MORE CCs OR PCs

1st Dr Giles CH & PR RAWEKE MIRROR IMAGE (27) FN 20/08/2007

A very attractive exhibit and very moody today. Large and lustrous chartreuse eyes with excellent slant to upper lids and well rounded lower lids set well apart. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to a broad blunt muzzle with a level bite, nicely rounded top of head with well shaped and sized ears which are set well apart. In profile her skull could do with a little more depth for balance, nicely rounded brow, good nose break and an essentially straight nose line apart from the end which fell away, her jaw has reasonable depth but really needs to be deeper for perfection as it rather makes her chin look weak, it sits correctly in a vertical plane to the end of her nose. Her body feels weighty and firm, it has a strong chest and a straight back, her legs are elegant and in keeping with her body they have oval paws and the correct stance. Her tail balances to her shoulder and tapers well to a paint brush finish from a medium base. Her coat is short in length, with a soft and silky feel to it and is rich brown in colour. She was shown in very good condition and handled well.

2nd Mrs & Miss Matthews’ KATCHYN ORAGNE BLOSSOM (27d) F 13-03-2008

A sweet girl who is still a work in progress really. She has quite large eyes that are rich amber yellow in colour more of an horizontal line to her upper lids today but good rounding to lower lids, set well apart on a head that is still developing. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle, she has a rather untidy bite, she had gentle round between her ears which are set nicely and continue the contour to her outline, and they balance her head well being wide in the base and having rounded tips. In profile has good depth to her skull, a rounded brow, a good break and a straight nose which falls away slightly towards the end, her jaw is acceptable but more depth is required, it does align in the correct vertical plane to the end of her nose. Her medium size body is developing nicely, feeling weighty and muscular, she has a strong chest and a straight back; her limbs are slender and elegant in keeping with her body, having oval paws and the correct stance. Her tail balances to her shoulder, and tapers well to a blunt end though she as slightly bunt final vertebrae. Her coat is moderately short and feel soft and silky to the touch, it is a rich yet warm red tone, showing slight smudges to her leg. She was a little bit wriggly but handled well enough and was shown in excellent condition.

3rd Mrs Coulter’s LATTE CHEEKY CAPUCCINO (27h) F 19-06-2007

CLASS 785 AC BURMESE ADULT

1st Ferguson’s TEAROHA AUGUSTUS BROWN (27) M 21-07-2008

A sweet and gentle young man. Medium large yellow eyes set well apart, head developing nicely, he had a fairly short medium width wedge which tapered well, gentle rounding to top of head and ears set well apart, a fraction large for balance at present. His skull had good depth, rounding to brow, acceptable nose break, a small bump in the nose, jaw of reasonable depth but I would prefer more for perfection and it was set back a little. Body felt suitably weighty for size, good strong chest and straight back, elegant limbs, oval paws, in proportion. His tail just balanced and tapered nicely from a medium base. His coat was currently his most impressive feature and the first point I could recall about him was just how short it was and nice warm tone to the brown colour which is still developing he did have ghosting still to his legs. A pleasant youngster who was easy to handle and shown in excellent condition and well prepared

2nd Mrs Hetherington’s CH HEGIRA ROSEMARIE (27) F 18-10-2000

A rather shy girl who was also a little tense. Large and lustrous chartreuse eyes set well with correct shape. Face on she has a short wide wedge and level but a messy bite tapering well to a blunt muzzle, her ears were set wide apart with good shape with rounded tips and round at base across a gently rounded top of head. In profile she had gentle rounding to her brow, reasonably defined nose break but could have more definition for perfection, nose fell away to the nose leather slightly, jaw was of acceptable depth but sits in the correct vertical plane to her nose. Medium sized body was somewhat overweight, strong chest and straight back. Legs in proportion with oval paws but she would not stand for us. Her tail was too short to balance, tapers well of medium thickness with a round end feeling slightly blunt on the final vertebrae. Short coat was soft and silky in texture of a deep rich brown in colour with a sprinkle of white hairs. Shown in good condition but very tense and rather worried today.
