Burmese CC 27-6-09

My thanks to the Burmese Cat Club for inviting me to judge at their annual club show. My thanks also to Kaye Wilson for stewarding and handling all the exhibits so well. She really did an excellent job of settling down some of our rather fractious exhibits

Open Classes:

CLASS 32 LILAC KITTEN (UNDER 6 MONTHS), FEMALE

1st & BoB Mrs Wilshaw’s ROSSIKHAN DADDYS GIRL (27c) F 11/01/2009

Rather a delightful kitten – a super start to the day (again)! She has large and lustrous eyes which have super definition to the upper lids and superb fullness to lower lids. They are rich golden amber yellow in colour and set very well. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers to a blunt muzzle. She lovely rounding between her ears which are set well apart; they are nicely balanced; wide in the base and having rounded tips. She has a very typical contour to her upper face. Her profile shows very good depth to her skull. She has good rounding to her brow. She has a well defined nose break and a straight nose line, whilst her lower jaw has good depth I would like a little more for absolute perfection. Her chin sits correctly aligned to her nose in a straight vertical plan. Her body has good weight for her size and is beginning to look slightly unbalanced in that she has obviously had a growth spurt recently and she has become rather long in the body. She has a straight back and strong chest. Her stance shows correctly taller hind legs. Her tail balances and tapers very well to a rounded end. She still has a kitten coat at present, it is a warm even lilac. It had a super fine texture and satin like feel to it. Shown is excellent condition, she is a very confident girl who is very sweet and gentle – such a shame to wake her up from underneath her multi-layered blankets. How did she cope in the heat?

CLASS 32A LILAC KITTEN (OVER 6 MONTHS), MALE

1st Mrs Langham’s PREFERE ALBUS DUMBLEDORE (27c) M 24-10-2008

A very relaxed young who had a very serene posture as we reached his pen – I could swear he was meditating! He has reasonably large muddy yellow eyes, which have a pleasing slant to his upper lids and reasonable roundness to his lower lids. They are set quite well but his head is at that “in between kitten and adult stage” of development at present. Face on he has a short wide wedge, which due to teething was a little pinched today. His bite was level. He has gentle rounding between his well set ears. They are good for size and shape. His contour to his upper face is pleasing. In profile he has a reasonably deep skull. He has a gently rounded brow. His break lacks definition (due to his teething no doubt). He has a straight nose which falls away a little at the very end. His lower jaw was rather shallow and slightly set back. His body is developing nicely and has excellent weight. He has a straight back and a rounded chest. His limbs are neat and in keeping with his body having oval paws and the correct stance. His tail balances, and tapers from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. His coat has medium length. Is soft and silky to the touch. It is a rather pale lilac in tone with a slightly cool toned mask. He is a lovely lad who is very friendly and a pleasure to meet. I suspect he may become a wise old sage like his namesake.

CLASS 35 RED KITTEN (OVER 6 MONTHS), MALE

1st & BoB Mrs Kempe’s OAKENSHIELD FORTISSIMO (27d) MN 14-12-2008

What a charmer this young man is – “a proper schmoozer” as my old Gran would say. His eyes are a rich deep amber yellow and really need to be larger as they are somewhat on the medium to small end of the spectrum at present. They have very good shape to the upper lids but the lower lids could be much fuller. They are set correctly in a head that is still a work in progress. Face on he has a medium length, medium width muzzle which was a little pinched due to teething. He has gentle rounding to the top of his head. His ears that are set well apart, they are good for size and shape. He has a pleasing contour to his upper face. His skull was a medium depth and has a rounded brow. His nose break needed more definition (possibly due to his teething). He has an essentially straight nose that fell away little towards the end. His lower jaw has barely acceptable depth and really need much more for balance, it was also receding a little. His body was very well grown for his age being firm and solid. He has a strong chest and a straight back. His limbs are of an appropriate size for his body. They have oval paws and they show the correct stance. His tail was a little short to balance, but tapers well from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. His coat was reasonably short. It has very good texture to it. It is a pale but bright red, currently with a few smudges to his inner fore legs, a remnant of a necklace which will hopefully blend in as he develops and scarab but a clear tummy. Shown in excellent condition and a lovely young man who behaved impeccably! Was he named for his very loud purr I wonder?

Miscellaneous Classes:

CLASS 76 AC SENIOR ADULT

1st The Misses Mooney & Reid IGRCH MAINMAN KISSCHASE (27) F 21-5-04

A very attractive exhibit. She has large and lustrous pale chartreuse eyes. They have excellent shape; well defined slant to the nose in her upper lids and fully rounded lower lids. They are set well apart in her broad well developed head. All in all they have an excellent Burmese expression. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a very broad blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has a gently rounded head and ears that are set well apart thereon. Her ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are suitably sized to balance her head. They add well to the contour of her upper face and have the correct profile tilt. In profile her skull has good depth. She had a gently rounded brow. She has a very good nose break, a straight nose line and a reasonably deep lower jaw which ends in the same vertical plane as the end of her nose. Her medium sized body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. She has a rounded chest and a straight back. Her limbs are neat and elegant with oval paws. She has the correct stance; taller hind legs. Her tail balances to her shoulder. It tapers well from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. Her coat was a rich warm brown in tone, it was very clear and even. It was also very short in length, whilst being soft and silky in texture. She was shown in superb condition. She was a poppet and handled very nicely indeed – an absolute pleasure to meet!

2nd Mrs Kennard’s GRCH MAINMAN KISSANOVA (27) M 6-4-07

I have to confess to having a wee bit of glee at finding I was handling this exhibit as I am often penned next to him at shows but rarely see him for myself as he prefers the underside of his vet bedding. He has large and lustrous pale yellow eyes. They have very good shape; they have a good slant to the nose in his upper lids and fully rounded lower lids. They are set well apart in his broad, well developed head. All in all a very good Burmese expression. Face on he has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a very broad blunt muzzle, finally a chin of excellent depth. He has a level bite. He has a gently rounded head and ears that are set well apart thereon. His ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are suitably sized to balance his head nicely. They enhance the contour of his upper face and have the correct profile tilt. In profile his skull has good depth. He has a gently rounded brow. He has a good nose break, a straight nose line and a reasonably deep lower jaw which could be deeper for perfection. It was unfortunately set back a little. His medium sized body feels less weighty than his sized belays, it did have good muscle tone however. He has a rounded chest and a straight back. His limbs are neat and elegant with spoon shaped paws. He has the correct stance; taller hind legs. His tail was just short to balance. It tapers well from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. His coat was a rich warm brown in tone, it was very clear and even but had a few stray white hairs on the back of his neck. It was also short in length, whilst being soft and silky in texture. He was shown in excellent condition. He was very relaxed and handled very nicely for us and sat contentedly on the table whilst I wrote him up.

3rd Mrs Stephens’ GRCH MILLGILL THEATRICS (27j) F 14-3-06

A very pretty and endearingly sweet lady. She has large and lustrous pale chartreuse eyes (with a darker inner rim). The have good shape having a good line to their upper lids and quite fully rounded lower lids. They are set well in her pleasing head. She has a short wide wedge which tapers nicely to blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. Her top of head has gentle rounding with her ears set well apart. Her ears are good for size and shape. They have good width to the bases and rounded tips. They add nicely to the contour of her upper face and show the desired profile tilt. She has acceptable depth to her skull. She has a rounded brow. She has a good nose break and a straight nose. Her has lower jaw has reasonable depth but more is required for perfection, it does sit correctly in a vertical plane with the tip of her nose. Her medium sized body has good weight. She has a strong chest and a straight back. Her limbs are in keeping with her body. The have oval paws and the correct stance. The are very neat and elegant. Her tail tapers well to a paint brush tip from a medium thick base. She has a good mingling of cream and pink toned lilac, but I noticed a few smudges to her inner left rear legs and the remnants of a necklace. Her coat is short, soft and silky, perhaps rather too soft today. She was shown in very good condition and she has a charming winning temperament.

Her medium sized body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. She has a rounded chest and a straight back. Her limbs are neat and elegant with spoon shaped paws. She has a good stance with taller hind legs. Her tail was short to balance to her shoulder. It tapers well from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. She was shown in superb condition. She was a charmingly friendly character whom I could take home with me – a joy!

A grizzly exhibit today. She has large and lustrous pale yellow-chartreuse eyes. They have pleasing shape; having a good slant to the nose in her upper lids and fully rounded lower lids. They were only enhanced by her mood! They are set well apart in her broad well developed head. All in all they have a super Burmese expression. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has a slightly flat top of head and ears that are set well apart. Her ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are really very well sized and shaped to balance her head. They enhance the contour of her upper face and have the correct profile tilt. In profile her skull has good depth. She had a gently rounded brow. She has a good nose break which could be more defined for perfection, a straight nose line and a deep lower jaw which was slightly set back. Her large sized body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. She has a rounded chest and a straight back. Her limbs are neat and elegant, in proportion to her body with oval paws. She has the correct stance with taller hind legs. Her tail was just short to balance to her shoulder. It tapers well from a slightly thick base to a paint brush tip. Her coat was a warm but intense deep cream with ample powdering evident from her head down her spine, it was very clear and very even. It was also very reasonably short in length, whilst being soft and silky in texture. She was shown in rather ample condition. As already mention she was not in the best of humours today.

3rd Mr & Mrs Blake’s CH & GRPR HOBBERDY HOOPCYDAISY (27h) FN 18-4-06

A very worried exhibit out her pen but happiest when back in her pen. She has large pale yellow eyes. They have acceptable shape; rather gentle slant to the nose in her upper lids and acceptably rounded lower lids. They are set well apart in her head which has excellent width. They have a reasonable Burmese expression. Face on she has a short but medium wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle which could be broader for perfection. She has a level bite. She has a gently rounded head and ears that are set well apart. Her ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are suitably sized to balance her head. They extend the contour of her upper face and have a reasonable profile tilt. In profile her skull has reasonable depth. She had a gently rounded brow. She has a good nose break, a straight nose line with a little falling away to her nose and an acceptable lower jaw which ends in the same vertical plane as the end of her nose; it does need greater depth for balance. Her large sized body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. She has a rounded chest and a straight back. Her limbs are in proportion to her body with oval paws. She has the correct stance with taller hind legs. Her tail just balances to her shoulder. It tapers well from a somewhat thick base to a paint brush tip. Her coat was well mingled with various shades of red and a rather dark chocolate especially around her face, it was very clear and even. It was also an acceptable length, whilst being soft and silky in texture. She was shown in good condition. She was rather tense and did not really show herself to her best today I suspect.

CLASS 112 AC NEUTER

1st Mrs Robinson’s PR ROSSIKHAN STATUS SYMBOL (27c) MN 3-11-07

A stunning lad if a tad upset. He has large and lustrous rich golden eyes. They have excellent shape!!! Superb definition to the slant of his upper lids and fully rounded lower lids. They are set well apart in his broad well balanced head. All in all they have an excellent Burmese expression – it is nigh on text book. Face on he has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a very broad blunt muzzle. He has a level bite. He has a pleasingly rounded head and ears that are set well apart thereon. His ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are suitably sized to balance his head. They compliment the contour of his upper face but their profile tilt was hard to assess due to his humour. In profile his skull has good depth. He had a gently rounded brow. He has a very well defined nose break, a straight nose line. He has a reasonably deep lower jaw which ends in the same vertical plane as the end of his nose. His medium sized body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. He has a rounded chest and a straight back. His limbs are neat and elegant with oval paws. He would not stand for me but I can see his rear legs were longer than his fore. His tail balances to his shoulder. It tapers well from a medium thick base to a paint brush tip. His coat was a warm lilac in tone with correct pink caste, it was very clear and even. It was also very short in length, whilst being soft and silky in texture feeling like satin. He was shown in superb condition. He is such a stunning boy that is a real shame to see him so upset, he was not aggressive just fearful I think.

A very sweet exhibit who was rather unlucky to meet the winner today. She has large and lustrous chartreuse eyes. They have very good shape; well defined slant to the nose in her upper lids and nicely rounded lower lids. They are set well apart in her broad head. All in all they have a pleasing Burmese expression. Face on she has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle. She has a level bite. She has a gently rounded head verging on flatness though and ears that are set well apart thereon. Her ears have wide bases, rounded tips and are suitably sized to balance her head. They add well to the contour of her upper face and have the correct profile tilt. In profile her skull has reasonably good depth. She had a rather gently rounded brow. She has a good nose break, a straight nose line which was a tad long. She has acceptable depth to her lower jaw which ends in the same vertical plane as her nose end. Her large body felt weighty and had good muscle tone. She has a rounded chest and a straight back. Her limbs are neat and elegant with oval paws. She has the correct stance with taller hind legs. CLASS 150 CREAM KITTEN

1st Mrs Robinson’s MOLYNMEUX GOLD DUST (27f) M 23-12-08

A simply stunning kitten who goes from strength to strength. Excellent expression in his large and lustrous rich amber yellow eyes. They have excellent shape especially in his fully rounded lower lids and have a very good slant to the nose in his upper lids. They are very well set in his pleasing broad head. Face on he has a short wide wedge which tapers well to a blunt muzzle. He has a level bite. He has good rounding to the top of his head. His ears are set well and are in proportions for the size of his head. They are wide in the base with rounded tips. The enhance the contour to his upper face nicely and have the correct profile tilt. His skull shows good depth in profile. It has a rounded brow and a well defined nose break with a small bump midway along his nose which hopefully will straighten out. His lower jaw has good depth and sits in the correct plane to the end of his nose, I would prefer this to be a little deeper for absolute perfection though. A solid body which is growing nicely, with a well rounded chest and a straight back. His legs are elegant yet sturdy and in proportion to his body. They have taller hind legs and neat oval paws. His tail balances well and tapers beautifully to a paint brush tip from a medium base. It has amazing length to it. There are hints of powdering developing in his appealing pale cream coat which is really rather clear except for a couple of smudges to his rear legs. Whilst his coat has a kitten texture to it, it is none the less soft and silky and very short. A very confident young man who was shown in super condition, he has an adorable temperament and was very relaxed. He is really rather wonderful – I have admired him from the first time I met him.
