North West Cat Club 27-9-08

I would like to thank the Show Manager, her assistant and the committee, who were all working so hard, for their kind invitation to judge at their very popular show! My steward was Heather Badly to whom I am deeply grateful and looking forward to our next show – thank you Heather! My friend Mrs Ashmore must be thanked too for all of her support and encouragement for the last umpteen years – thanks Lynda! Finally but not least too all of you mad fools who took the chance on this rooky judge and to those who originally entered Mrs Walkden I hope you were not too disappointed.

Class 403 AOC Tortoiseshell Burmese Kitten

A very lovely class; three very good kittens – a pleasure to judge!

1st & BoB Mr & Mrs Williams’ MOLYNMEUX INEUXENDO, 27g, F, DoB: 01-04-2008

A kitten with excellent head type and a fine Burmese expression due to her large and lustrous eyes of excellent shape and set wide apart; with an expressive, strong line to the upper lid slanting to the nose and very full rounded lower lid; rich golden yellow in colour which is still developing. Excellent width at the jaw hinge for age, level bite, pleasing contours to her muzzle which also had strong definition and a characteristic short wide wedge. Excellent nose break with a straight nose; chin which might have been deeper for perfection but lay in a straight plane to the end of the nose. Ears a tad large at present wide at the base, gently rounded tips with correct forward tilt set well apart between a nicely rounded top of head. Her body is developing well for her age with a good weighty feel of solid muscle, well rounded chest, and straight back sitting on dainty legs that are nicely muscled, being in proportion to her body, with neat dainty oval paws. The hind legs being correctly taller than the fore legs. Tail is slightly whippy at present but of correct length to balance with a charming paint brush tip free from faults. The coat colour is a delightful soft blue with super silvering, mingled well with shades of cream. Her coat although kitten soft, is silk like to the touch and lies very close to her body. In super condition and a very sweet relaxed girl who enjoyed being admired!

2nd Mrs Coulter’s JACOU UNIQUE ULTRVIOLET, 27j, F, DoB: 13-02-2008

A sweet confident girl who really enjoyed being handled today! This charming girl is hitting that gangly phase between kitten-hood and early adulthood. She came out confidently making the most of her assets which was very appealing. Medium large golden yellow eyes are set wet well apart and of very good size, though tending to hold them very wide open in a rounded fashion, but when relaxed showed a good slant to her upper lid with correct rounding to her lower lid. Has a good nose break, a straight nose, good plane down to chin which is of good depth with a level bite. Ears of good size for head set well apart on a gently rounded head, broad in the base with round tips and good alert profile tilt. Her wedge is wide at the jaw hinge and reasonably short. She is well grown for her age, long body, solid feel, amply rounded chest with a straight back set on strong legs with taller hind legs than the fore, with spoon shaped paws. She had plenty of tail to balance, a tad thick with a paint brush end – there was a tense feel to the end of her tail but no visible or permanent fault. The hall light tended to be unkind to the lilacs, but it was warm with a hint of pink to it with nicely mingled shades of cream. A short, soft coat lying well to her body, in supper condition, fun to handle: alert, interested in all that was going on and very confident!

3rd Dr Giles’ RAWEKE SOMETHING BLUE, 27g, 14-04-2008

Such a dear little baby who seemed a tad overwhelmed today; though my steward took lots of care to comfort and settle her as best she could. I struggled placing her third but in fairness she did not show her many fine attributes off well today due to her shyness. Large lustrous eyes when fully open of a muddy hue of golden yellow at present set well apart, though when not relaxed tending to appear hooded, super shape again when relaxed; lovely full rounding to lower lid and good line to upper. She has a short wide wedge which appeared especially wide at her cheek bones rather than jaw hinge. Her ears were a tad large for her head at present but I am sure she will soon grow into them! Set very well apart on a very rounded head. She has an excellent break unfortunately followed by a rather distinct bump just after the break disturbing the nose profile – this could have been caused by her pulling her muzzle back to her face, but I did not observe this in repose even though I spent a good deal of time with her. The plane from nose to chin is straight but would prefer greater depth to chin. Solid compact body of excellent weight, strong rounded chest with a straight back, unfortunately I could not encourage her to stand so could not properly access her limbs but they seem dainty though well muscled with wee oval paws. Though her tail was tense it balanced and tapered well to a slightly blunt tip. Very short and super silky coat of warm mid-blue mingled with various shades of cream. In very good condition, a sweet but shy girl today.

Class 665 AV Foreign Novice Kitten (Originally Mrs Walkden’s)

1st Mr & Mrs Hobson’s TWINKLETOES FIRE DANCER, 23, M 04-05-2008

Well grown young man who handled very well despite being removed from his food. Very expressive eyes, whose colour is still developing but showing amber today, set well with good almond shape. Ears might be further apart but his head is still developing they were alert and had wee ear tufts. Head developing nicely, good wedge, level bite with slight nose break, medium chin, set straight. Lithe and already muscular feel to body of correct build. Lovely elegant legs, small oval paws. Short fine coat with good drag. A well developed pattern, rich in colour already with required banding, the lighter colouring was well evident at base of hair shafts and darker colour at the end. A lovely kitten just waiting to sprout 12 more legs!

2nd Mrs G Browing’s Poolside Ruby Ripple, 33a 30sw, F, 18-01-2008

A very nice girl! Short, broad head wide at the cheeks, brow curves back to flat skull. Nice defined whisker break and having level bite. Large ears very wide at the base tapering well. Her stop could be deeper in profile but is physically very strongly her in her skull formation, chin a tad weak. Lovely slender neck. Generally well covered though coat is still developing. Lovely dainty legs and small oval paws. Long tapering tail – sweet baby of please type who was unlucky to meet the winner of this class today!

3rd Mrs M Hibbs’ CHRISJAY BEWITCHED, 76 30, F, 29-05-2008

Extra 3rd Mrs S Fielding NORDIQUESTAR SARIS PRIX, 76 30, F, 30-04-2008

Class 673a AV Foreign Neuter Male

1st Mr & Mrs N Bayley's PR NEMOREZ AZUREDLIGHT, 68a, MN, DoB: 10-03-2006

This boy had a short extremely wide wedge and had a tendency to square off the angles which was somewhat untypical of the Asian Breed; however I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he was rather upset by the sight of his neighbour. Large, lustrous eyes set wide apart, showing a pleasing line to top lid and strong rounding to lower when relaxed, golden yellow in tone having the required blue rims. Profile showing the break was lacking in definition though having a straight nose and chin of very good depth; level bite set in a straight plane with his nose tip. Large handsomely furnished ears were set well apart between a pleasingly round head, broad at the base, rounded tips with pleasing ear tufts. Medium-large body not quite as heavy as might be expected, with a strong chest and straight back set on elegant legs of correct boning which had oval paws in proportion; furnished with toe tufts and blue paw pads. Tail was well plumed, slightly tense but free of permanent faults and balanced to the body. Dark charcoal blue coat which was sound to the root, had a silky texture of the correct length showing ruff, minimal breaches and plume to the tail, the undercoat was neither dense nor woolly and was well presented. Though rather upset he handled well.

2nd Mr D H Thomas’ GR PR THOMAS RAZMATAZ, 76 30, MN, 01-05-2008

I struggled to find this head small in comparison to the body as required by the standard; however he did have excellent head type, medium wedge, high check bones, concave curve between bridge and nose leather, large broad nose, very full muzzle, strong chin, thick muscular neck. Medium ears, short and wide. Light furnishings. Round eyes slanting to ear base. Long sleek body robust and large showing good depth to flank. Strong legs large rounded paws. Tick medium tail. Short coat. Excellent pattern with superb rufous giving a strong and vibrant orange ground. Very pleasing exhibit.

Class 674 AV Foreign Junior Neuter

1st Mrs J Kemp's PR NATZKATZ IRISH-CREAM 72 43nsq, MN, DoB: 16-05-2007

Superb expression due to the large lustrous eyes of pale yellow-green that where set well apart with superb shape; strong upper line and excellent rounded lower lid. Excellent short wide wedge, good sized ears wide at the base set well apart rounded tips with tufts. Gently rounded top of head with strong nose break followed by a straight nose, chin of very good depth set in a straight pane to the tip of his nose with level bite. Medium sized young man with strong muscles and weighty feel, broad chest and straight back set on strong legs with high hind legs and spoon shaped paws. His tapered tail balances and has a pint brush tip. Lightly shaded on a pristine silver background, showing a scarab to head, thumb print to ears, mantle down the body, minimal leg markings, a few spots on tummy, no tail rings but a spine line along his tail only having a solid tip. His BCR Caramel was somewhat hindered by the hall lighting which made it appear more of a darker taupe than described in the standard though most of the metallic tone was in evidence here and the area immediate surrounding the paw pads of fore legs. Nose rim and paw pad show the correctly complimenting bluish fawn colour. Coat was short, soft and close lying of a silk like texture, in excellent condition and alert. Handled well throughout despite being upset with his neighbour.

2nd Mrs Marshall’s INSASIAN RHINESTONE COWBOY, 33 40 3w, MN, 08-08-2007

Lovely boy who handles well. Medium wedge with high cheeks, tending to square his muzzle slightly but correctly rounded when relaxed. Strong chin and level bite. Good flat skull lovely straight line to nose tip. Large ears set high. Wide at base taper to round tips giving mussel shell effect when observed from the rear. Oval shaped eyes of correct setting and shape. Elegant neck and body is muscular, slender and medium in length. Nice long legs with neat oval paws. Long fine tail that balances well. Coat was of require density and very evenly covered his body and tail. Waving was present and his colour and pattern was charming – love the name!

3rd Miss S Fielding NORDIQUESTAR SUPERSHADOW, 76 30, MN, 06-10-2007

Class 690 AC Burmese Senior Adult

1st Mr & Mrs Boardman’s Gr Ch NICANORY DAISY MAY, 27, F, DoB: 25-05-2004

A very lovely girl with large and lustrous rich golden yellow eyes, set well apart with excellent shaped lids. Head has short wide wedge, ears are medium in size set wide apart, wide at the base with rounded tips sitting on gently rounded head. Very good nose break, straight nose and chin of reasonably good depth, sat in straight plane to nose leather, broad muzzle with level bite. Medium body with very good muscling and weighty feel, well rounded chest and straight back. The body sat on medium size legs, hind being taller than fore with oval paws. Medium thickness to tail almost balances, but tapers well to a paint brush finish. Soft coat and satin like; a rich warm brown with hints of chestnut, shown in excellent condition, lovely temperament; a quality exhibit!

2nd Mrs C Stalker’s CH VINTARN WHISPER A WISH, 27b, F, DoB: 23-03-2006

A very sweet girl, large and lustrous eyes of chartreuse but mostly at the yellow end of the spectrum, set well apart and of very good shape. Head has a short wide wedge, smaller-medium ears would prefer larger for perfection to balance the rest of her super head, set well apart still wide in the base, with correct forward tilt and rounded tips; set on a very well rounded head. Profile shows a very good nose break, straight line to nose and chin of medium depth set in a straight plane to the nose end. Medium long body with excellent weight, strong chest and straight back sat on strong legs with correctly taller hind legs that have delightful spoon shaped paws. Tail is of a medium thickness and balances well. A lovely shade of deep chocolate but very warm with minimal contrast. Soft and silky coat lying close to the body. In very good condition and a real sweet heart, rather gorgeous and she knows it!

3rd Mrs Tegg’s GR CH BLOOMERS BARONESS BELCHAMP, 27j, F, DoB: 07-11-2006

Class 691 AC Burmese Junior Adult

1st Prof Bradley’s AUREUS CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE, 27b, M, DoB: 03-11-2007

This well developed young man had large and lustrous muddy golden eyes (though the colour is still developing as yet) set well apart with super shape. Large ears were set low and very broad at the base with rounded tips and correct forward tilt on well rounded broad head. Showing a short wide wedge with a strong nose break, straight nose, chin of medium depth, set in a level plane to the end of his nose. His large body was very weighty and strong with a very strong chest with a straight back. Suitably set on large well muscled legs, taller on hind legs with spoon shaped paws. Tail balances and was of medium thickness he was becoming a tad restless so I did not have chance to check his bite nor tail adequately for faults [FOR BAC ONLY: but was assured by two full judges that they had checked earlier that all was well with both of those attributes]. He had a soft and silky coat of a charming warm chocolate colour with very minimal contrast. Presented in excellent condition but a tad fed up by the time I assessed him.

2nd Mrs Gorman’s MOLYNMEUX DEMEUXRE 27c, F, DoB: 07-12-2007

Charming “baby girl” of the class not long an adult and showing lots of promise. Lovely large and lustrous pale yellow eyes, set very nicely and with good shape though occasionally she tended to rounded the upper lid when surprised or curious. The fullest side of medium ears but in proportion to her head very broad at the base with round tips and set reasonably low. Head shows a developing short wide wedge with lovely rounding to top of head, a very good nose break, straight nose and chin of medium depth, which I would prefer a touch deeper for perfection, but it was set in a good vertical plane to the end of the nose. Medium size body of good weight, strong chest and straight back sitting on dainty well muscled legs, taller hind legs, with spoon shaped paws. Her tail tapers well to rounded end and balances well. Her coat is still rather soft and kitten-like at present but is a beautiful pale lilac with pink casting evident. In very good condition, a tad tense but very equitable!

3rd Mrs S Bridges’ SANLIS PRIMA DONNA, 27, F, DoB: 23-3-2007

Extra 3rd Mrs S Edwards’ CH JACOU COCOCHOCOLATE DREAM, 27b, M, 01-12-2006

Class 711 Burmese Senior Neuter

1st Mrs Stephen’s GR PR MILLGILL PANDEMONIUM, 27, MN, DoB: 27-7-04

A very nice chap who although a tad upset handled very well. Super shape to his large yellow eyes with a hint of chartreuse which were set well apart. Good sized ears with decent width at base, rounded in the tips and with correct profile tilt forward, set well apart sitting on gently rounded head keep a pleasing flow to the out line of the head. Head has a short wide wedge, level bite, nice definition to nose break, straight nose line, and chin depth was acceptable but would prefer greater depth for perfection, chin in straight plane with tip of nose. Long body has a good weighty feel about it, strong chest and straight back. Well muscled legs with elegant spoon shaped paws, hind legs are taller than fore legs. Although the tail is a tad thick it balances well and has rounded tip. Has a silky closing lying coat which was a rich but warm brown with a few stray white hairs on his back. He was in excellent condition and a pleasing exhibit.

2nd Mr & Mrs Hardy’s UK GR CH & GR PR MACHIKA CREME ANGLAISE, 27f, FN, DoB: 03-10-1998

A very appealing and sweet nature older lady. Pleasing sized pale chartreuse eyes though some yellow tone still evident, set well apart and with excellent shape as required. Large ears that balance the head, set well and broad at the base with nicely rounded tips set on gently round head. Short wide wedge which she was tending to square with a level bite. Moderate nose break with a nose line that is slightly interrupted by a wee bump that falls away to the nose leather, chin is of good depth and is correctly aligned to the tip of nose in a straight line. Medium sized body has a nice weighty feel to it with a strong chest and straight back sitting on proportionally strong legs, hind legs taller and showing oval paws. Tail was marginally thick but balances well. Soft and silky coat has lovely bloom to the cream around her ears and top of head giving a pleasing powered effect. Shown in super condition with a very charming and loving temperament – a pleasure to meet her.

3rd Ms A Catterick’s GR PR GATTINI MICIA MARRONE, 27, FN, DoB: 26-09-05

Class 718 AC Burmese Radius Neuter

1st Mrs E Jubb’s MAHARANI GABRIELLE, 27, FN, DoB: 24-08-2007

A very nice exhibit; large and lustrous yellow eyes with a hint of chartreuse developing, set wide apart with good shape. Ears of good size, broad at the base with correct profile tilt, set wide apart on a gently rounded head which shows a very short wide wedge with a good level bite. In profile having very good rounding to brow, good nose break, straight nose and chin of good depth set in a straight plane to the tip of her nose. Body of medium size, very good weighty feeling, a strong broad chest and straight back. Neat legs with dainty oval paws which are in proportion to the body with taller hind legs. Tail is of good shape with plenty of length to balance, in fact having some spare, with a paint brush tip. Coat has a super silky feel and is pleasing warm brown. Shown in excellent condition; a shy but very gentle girl who was a pleasure to meet today.

2nd Mr C Taylor’s PR RAWEKE CLEOPATRA, 27, FN, DoB: 12-03-07

Another very nice girl. Golden yellow very large and lustrous eyes set well apart with a tendency to round out the upper line as well as her lower line though I did occasionally catch her relaxing into the correct shape though. Ears of good size for head, set well on her gently round head, broad base and rounded tips, I could not assess the tilt. In profile showing rounded brow, very good nose break falls away to nose leather, chin depth is acceptable but would prefer deeper for perfection but lies well in a straight plane to the tip of the nose. Has a level bite. Medium sized body of good weight, broad strong chest and straight back. She had dainty spoon shaped paws but I could not get her to stand up; her legs appeared to be in proportion muscle-wise to her body. Tail just short to balance of moderate thickness with a paint brush tip. Coat is soft and silky of a lovely rich brown colour. A shy girl who did not show herself to her best today, shown in very good condition.

3rd Ms J Hughes PR MAHARANI LORENZO, 27b, MN, DoB: 02-11-2006

Class 719 AC Burmese Visitor’s Neuter

1st Mrs G Browning’s PR ADMILBU SUNNI SUNLIGHT, 27h, FN, DoB: 08-05-2000

Large and lustrous chartreuse eyes set very well with very good definition to upper and lower eye lids. Medium ears, wide at the base, round tips and in profile showing correct forward tilt when relaxed, set very wide apart on a well rounded head. A super very short wide wedge with level bite, in profile showing a well rounded brow, very good nose break, straight nose and chin of good depth lying in a straight plane from the nose tip. Medium sized body of good weight, broad chest and straight back. Dainty but strong legs, taller on hind legs sporting neat dainty spoon shaped paws. Tail just balanced, of medium thickness tapering to rounded paint brush finish. Coat was soft and short perhaps a tad open, of warm light tone chocolate with well mingled shades of reds. In supper condition for a lady almost 8 and half years. Very sweet but happiest when back in her pen.

2nd Mrs Plaw’s CH & PR RAINSONG XABI ALONSO, 27, MN, DoB: 07-03-2007

A very attractive young man. Large and lustrous yellow eyes showing a hint of chartreuse with super shape and set well apart. Short wide wedge with a level bite. Medium-large ears showing good width at base and rounded tips; unable to assess profile tilt as he was not too happy out of his pen and did not settle down enough for this. Good rounding to top of head, profile showing a very good nose break, straight nose, reasonable depth of chin; set in a straight plane to nose tip. Large, heavy body, strong broad chest with a straight back. Tail more than balanced, tapers well to rounded finish. Coat is short, satin like and close lying; a warm deep shade of brown. Shown in very good condition; though upset out his pen he handled well.
